AEW Dynamite Results from AEW Dynamite Tonight (2/11/25)

Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland face-to-face

Strickland commanded most of the earlier part, praising Omega’s career history while mentioning his many absences. Omega retorted that had it not been for his health and the Brawl Out suspension of 2022, he’d have been Men’s World Champion again. They taunted each other until Omega had enough and slapped Strickland. They brawled through the crowd, eventually falling into a table from the entrance.

Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Pac) defeated Don Callis Family (Mark Davis, Konosuke Takeshita, & Josh Alexander)

Davis’s strength quickly planted Pac and chopped Moxley down with little problem. Castagnoli proved a better match, as they grappled against the ropes. Davis’s approach was more fiery, while Castagnoli maintained stoicism. Takeshita took Davis’s place once the Swiss wrestler gained control. Both teams broke off into a brawl outside the ring. Castagnoli wore out Takeshita with a backbreaker. Pac plummeted face-first onto the apron by Takeshita, thwarting a top rope maneuver aimed at Alexander.

Following Takeshita’s headlock on Pac, Alexander sought to capitalize, but the Brit reacted with a suplex. Castagnoli and Davis reunited, with the latter toppling the former courtesy of a lariat. Moxley and Takeshita countered several of the other’s moves, with a King Kong Lariat rocking Takeshita. The Death Riders cornered Takeshita, taking turns charging at him. Each member of the Don Callis Family followed the other in whalloping Moxley.  Chaos erupted, with Moxley wrapping Alexander in a chokehold and a Death Rider for the pinfall.

(This felt less like a fun party match and more of a clean, yet hate-fueled match. It’s cool to see Mark Davis still presented as a threat, rather than a pin-eater or chump.)

Kyle Fletcher defeated Tomasso Ciampa (c) for the TNT Championship

Fletcher arrogantly posed, thinking he flattened Ciampa. However, the champ rebounded for a very low dropkick to the challenger. Fletcher caught Ciampa in a Backbreaker. Dizzying the Aussie, Ciampa pulled out a flying lariat. Ciampa brought Fletcher to the outside, where he knocked him full speed with both knees. Ciampa damaged his knee, causing it to wobble as he climbed the steps, dropping Fletcher from his shoulders. Fletcher’s Brainbuster quickly reversed into Ciampa’s DDT. Ciampa survived an Avalanche Brainbuster and later a Liger Bomb. Referee Rick Knox had a very close 2-count after Fletcher’s kick, and Brainbuster seemed to have ended the champ.

Another nearfall transpired, this time from Ciampa’s running knee. Fletcher baited Ciampa by spraying spit in his face. Ciampa hit another Brainbuster to no avail. A Brainbuster spelled the end to Ciampa’s short title reign, as Fletcher became a 2-time TNT Champion.

Post-match: Fletcher celebrated going into the Grand Slam: Australia show on February 14. Mark Briscoe interrupted, proposing a match to break their 6-6 win-loss record. Fletcher agreed to his demands on the grounds the bout would be a Ladder Match.

(I’m not shocked at Kyle Fletcher’s performance tonight, as he’s one of AEW’s top talents. However, seeing Tommaso Ciampa show everyone what he was truly capable of since signing to AEW was a blast.)

Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong defeated Daniel Garcia & Clark Connors

Strong handled Connors, unsure why he was the one to start against him. Garcia’s smart-mouthing distracted Strong, allowing Connors to pummel him. Irate, Strong planted the legal Garcia with a Backbreaker. Cassidy tagged in and casually struck Garcia’s head. Garcia pulled him in for a sleeper hold and backgrop suplex. Tired of Cassidy’s antics, Strong left him high and dry. Connors took this moment of abandonment to pounce on his Freshly Squeezed opponent. Garcia trapped Cassidy with a sleeper hold on the ropes, allowing Connors to Spear him outside. Cassidy leapfrogged over another Spear. Darby Allin grabbed Connors and dragged him into the abyss of the crowd. Cassidy rolled up the lone Garcia for the win.

Post-match: Toni Storm and Luther greeted Cassidy. Storm accepted she may go bald following the mixed-tag Hair versus Hair Match, but that she would bring the fight to Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir. Wheeler Yuta interrupted, instructing Shafir to bring out an incapacitated Mina Shirakawa. They cut a substantial lock of her hair as Garcia ambushed Cassidy and trash-talked him.

(Roddy came off like a real jerk, but the Allin interference also added to the story. It’s hilarious that Death Riders are actually simultaneously heel and face in different feuds.)

Andrade El Idolo, Don Callis, and Hangman Page promo

Callis praised Idolo’s victory over Kenny Omega on February 4. Idolo promised to defeat Page in Australia on February 14. Page had a separately recorded promo, mourning the chance to face Omega, but ready to take on Idolo.

Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) defeated Rascalz (Myron Reed & Desmond Xavier with Zachary Wentz), & Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Private Party sustained a heavy ovation from the California fans.

The Young Bucks picked up where they left off with Private Party after the latter dispatched The Rascalz. Quen suffered a combined Sunset Flip by the Bucks, while Kassidy absorbed a Facebuster. The Rascalz pulverized Nick with multiple kicks. Quen dropkicked Xavier. Kassidy leapt over Queen to topple Nick and Reed. Xavier unleashed an unreal Shooting Star Press to flatten everyone outside. Nick disposed of Private Party with a finely executed Escalara. Matt employed a series of Northern Lights Suplexes to Kassidy, with the final one blasting Quen as well.

Nick sent Private Party crashing with a Bulldog. He and Matt coordinated for a Senton + Elbow Drop combo to both Party members. Cameras cut to HOOK in the balcony. Kassidy quelled the Bucks with a couple of Cutters. Kassidy fell victim to a DDT from Reed. Multiple superkicks were traded, with Nick rattling Kassidy with a Canadian Destroyer. Reed flung Nick into Private Party with a Cutter from the top rope. The Bucks superceded Reed’s superkick with a combined one of their own, which they followed up with Xavier and Quen. They finished Quen off with a Meltzer Driver.

Post-match: FTR greeted the victorious Young Bucks. Dax Harwood praised their hard work and expressed his past jealousy of them. He asked Matt how it felt being in “second place,” but immediately interrupted, as is his schtick. Hawrood asked if it ever bothered the Bucks that they had to start a company to solidify their legacy. The Bucks superkicked Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Together, they frightened the wheelchair-using Stokely Hathaway before gently setting FTR’s belts on his lap.

(Thrill ride through and through. Rascalz have a ways to go, but they’ve got quite a ways to go. That Private Party return was a vibe unto itself. Marq Quen is beefy now!)

Will Ospreay video package

Ospreay narrated a vignette that covered his career in AEW and NJPW, covering his slow journey of returning to active competition.

Kris Statlander (c) versus Thekla in a Strap Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship

The stronger Statlander promptly pulled Thekla in. The Toxic Spider tried hiding outside, but the champ reeled her in like a fish. Unsatisfied, Stat dragged Thekla’s corpse across the ring, occasionally stopping to stomp on her foe. Thekla gathreed herself to whip Statlander in the face and on the sides. Furious, Statlander hurled Thekla into the ring post. The unrelenting champ swung Thekla into the barricade. Thekla recovered in time to yank Stat into nearby steel steps.

The challenger tugged and tugged at Stat, tenderizing her against the ring post. Over and over, she flogged Stat and used the strap to choke her. Amid Thekla’s control, blood trickled down the champ’s face. Thekla hung over the top rope as her thighs drained more blood from Stat’s head. Incensed, Stat choked Thekla with the strap until the latter gouged her eyes. Face fully cloaked in crimson, Stat dropped Thekla with a Discus Lariat. Blue Thunderbomb inched Stat further to victory. She whipped herself with the strap to reinstate more adrenaline. Flagellating her challenger, Stat battered Thekla with a powerbomb. Julia Hart and Skye Blue distracted Stat long enough for a Spear and Stomp to become the new Women’s World Champion.

Post-match: Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter of the newly formed Brawling Birds chased Thekla and her Sisters of Sin.

(Holy crap, what a blood-soaked affair. And Thekla felt all the more believable as a challenger despite her size.)

Final Thoughts

Tonight’s show was incredible, from top to bottom. The Omega and Strickland brawl added juice to their feuds away from the Don Callis Family and Opps. The Death Riders and the Don Callis Family had a war, whereas the former’s beef with Orange Cassidy and Toni Storm unraveled even more plot developments, including Roderick Strong’s abandonment of Cassidy. Private Party’s return was spectacular, but I’m not sold on The Young Bucks and FTR once more revisiting their rivalry when two fresher teams could have taken that spot. That said, the 3-way was a rollercoaster. But to have two big title changes on one televised episode? That was a shock.

Great episode of Dynamite. AEW’s off to a hot start this year and doesn’t show much signs, if any, of stopping.
