Why the Sol Ruca and Zaria Breakup on NXT is Imminent

For over a year now, Sol Ruca and Zaria have been a tag team. Even though they haven’t won a tag team title, they’ve been supportive friends throughout their run together. However, over the past couple of months, they haven’t been on the same page as much as they’d like. On the February 3, 2026 episode of NXT, they competed in a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship match against the Elegance Brand.

During the match, a major clue was seen as to the future of the pair. Zaria had M by Elegance up on her shoulder, with Ruca in position for a Sol Snatcher. However, Ruca accidentally hit the move on Zaria. That allowed  Heather by Elegance to tag in and get the pinfall. This might seem like another small rift between them, but there are reasons why the ZaRuca breakup will happen sooner rather than later.

Ruca Had a Great Showing at the Royal Rumble

Last Saturday was the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Many fans were talking about Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan winning their Rumbles, AJ Styles retiring to Gunther, and Drew McIntyre retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn. But some fans were talking about Ruca, and for good reason. She entered the Rumble in the 10th position, one of four women from NXT in the match.

Aside from Charlotte Flair, she had the longest time in the match at 50:47. Not only did she eliminate NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, but she was part of the final three women. WWE wants to bring her to the main roster as soon as possible. The only way to do that is to break up ZaRuca for good. Their fans won’t be happy, but sometimes breakups help wrestlers in the long run.

Next Week’s Controversial Match Will Be Their Undoing

Jayne wasn’t happy about her elimination at the Royal Rumble. She called Ruca out to speak with her, but Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair came out instead. They have had major issues with Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, the other members of Fatal Influence, for the past couple of weeks. Grey made it known that she wanted a chance at Jayne’s title. Zaria appeared and wanted the same thing.

Grey started to insult her partnership with Ruca, who came out after that to defend herself. Interim General Manager Robert Stone came out with a solution. A tag team match would be held next Tuesday, with the woman getting the pinfall, fighting Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship. To further Ruca’s story with Jayne and Zaria, she has to be the one to win the match. Doing so will plant the seeds for an eventual match with Zaria.

It’s Time for ZaRuca to Go Their Separate Ways

Clearly, WWE sees Ruca as a future star. Her Rumble appearance made her a lot of fans and recognition as a top performer. However, she is stuck in a tag team with Zaria, with whom she hasn’t really gotten along over the last couple of months. Add in the fact that she cost them the win, and the fact that only one person will face Jayne, and all the signs are pointing to ZaRuca breaking up for good next week.

This breakup will allow Ruca to get an NXT Women’s Championship title match, finally, and for Zaria to compete in the singles division fully. It will also be a stepping stone for their match against each other, likely at Stand & Deliver. Sometimes, tag team breakups can lead to bad things. But breaking up ZaRuca will more than likely lead to success for both women.
