3. Hulk Hogan
The highlight of the 1990 Royal Rumble match was the WWE Champion Hulk Hogan’s showdown with the Intercontinental Champion, The Ultimate Warrior. There was no stipulation at the Rumble, but the face-off set up Hogan and Warrior’s iconic WrestleMania 6 colossal clash.
Hogan eliminated six wrestlers, including the Intercontinental Champion and Mr. Perfect, to win the 1990 Royal Rumble match. However, the Hulkster made history as he became the only reigning WWE Champion to date to win the Royal Rumble.
12 months later, Hogan once again featured in a Royal Rumble match. He entered 24th in 1991, and Hogan put on a dominant display. Earthquake was Hogan’s seventh and final victim, eliminating him from winning the 1991 Royal Rumble match. However, with the win, Hogan etched his name in the history books as the first man to win Royal Rumble matches in consecutive years.
