#1 Contenders for WWE Women’s Tag Titles Crowned on 1/23 SmackDown

WWE SmackDown in Montreal on January 23, 2026, saw the crowning of #AndNEW champions. However, the party did not stop there, as we saw a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Tag Number One Contender’s Match between Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, taking on Nia Jax and Lash Legend, as well as Women’s United States Champion Giulia and Kiana James.

It was chaos from beginning to end, with Bliss and Charlotte going at it with Legend and Jax, while Giulia and Kiana picked their spots, and that proved to be the difference-maker. Bliss went for the home run in the final moments of this match, looking to hit Legend with a Tornado DDT, only to get caught and hit by a Lash Extension. Fortunately for Bliss, Flair was there for the save, delivering a Spear to Legend.

Kiana James would notch the biggest win of his career, picking up the scraps and pinning Alexa Bliss, allowing her and the Women’s U.S. Champion, Giulia, to become number one contenders.

As the cliche goes, there really is no rest for the wicked, as even before the title match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) XLIII between Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY versus  Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez, there’s already someone waiting in the wings to take them off.

Regardless of whether it’s The Judgment Day or Team RHIYO, they need to have eyes in the back of their heads, as the new number one contenders surely have no problem gaining an advantage by any means necessary to become tag team champions.
