In 2003, Shawn Michaels competed in his first match at the Royal Rumble PPV in five years, and entered the Royal Rumble Match for the first time in seven years. When people knew Shawn Michaels would be #1, his victory from that spot at Royal Rumble 1995 immediately came to mind.

After seeing him perform in late 2002, Shawn could definitely have another amazing “iron man” performance in ’03. No one thought he’d be the first man eliminated, but that is exactly what happened. Chris Jericho, the second wrestler to enter the Royal Rumble, appeared from behind and attacked HBK with a steel chair.

Michaels was eliminated before the likes of Christopher Nowinski, but that wasn’t the end of his night. A few minutes later, the four-time WWE World Champion returned and caused Jericho to get eliminated by Test.
