Trick Williams Debuts on 1/2/26 WWE SmackDown; Debut Match Announced for Next Week

One of the absolute greatest WWE NXT superstars of all-time has now reached greener pastures, as Trick Williams is now officially on WWE SmackDown. On January 2, 2026, the New Year’s Edition of Friday Night Fight Night, Trick would prance into Buffalo, New York, effectively putting everyone on notice.

Unfortunately, he did it at the expense of Sami Zayn. Sami was out there to pour his heart out, saying that he doesn’t want to be the guy who “almost made it happen” any longer, and that he’s gunning for a WWE World Title in 2026, and that’s when Trick entered the arena.

Williams ran down his resume, and for good reasons, he’s indeed a former two-time NXT Champion, as well as becoming TNA World Champion, and NXT North American Champion. Suffice it to say, Trick Williams had the goods, and he told no lies.

However, Zayn took exception to this, saying that while he recognizes Trick’s abilities, he has yet to be humble, and Sami would be more than happy to be the first to do it. Zayn would walk off, making a strong statement. Trick Williams is now officially on WWE SmackDown, and it seems like he’s already ruffled a few feathers. Backstage, Trick Williams already got into it with a SmackDown staple in the form of Rey Fenix.

Aldis would take notice of this confrontation, making the first official match of Trick Williams official on next week’s SmackDown.

That said, Trick Williams is undoubtedly a great addition to the WWE SmackDown roster, which already saw a few signings, call-ups, and returns. Welcome to Friday nights, Trick Williams.
