Apollo Crews has been a steady presence on WWE’s mid-card, facing off against stars like Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Lashley. Earlier this year, his momentum was stopped when he tore a pectoral muscle, which kept him out of action for several months while he recovered from surgery.
His last match before the injury was against Johnny Gargano, where he picked up the win thanks to some outside interference from Tommaso Ciampa and the Motor City Machine Guns.
Back in the Ring at AAA Alianzas
Crews recently made his return to action at AAA Alianzas, scoring a singles win over Lince Dorado. He’s still officially on the SmackDown roster, but this appearance shows he’s slowly working his way back to full-time WWE action. His return is set to add more depth, competition, and energy to SmackDown’s mid-card.
Tag Team Run with Baron Corbin
In 2024, Crews had a short-lived tag team with Baron Corbin. Even though fans were skeptical at first, the duo quickly found chemistry and got a good reaction thanks to their opposite yet complementary styles. It also showed just how versatile Crews can be in WWE, fitting into any role.

Now that he’s on the road to full recovery, the focus shifts to what’s next for Crews on SmackDown. Once cleared by doctors, he’s expected to return to storylines and help strengthen the mid-card with his presence and skill.
