5 WWE Superstars Who Could Be the Mystery Man in the Shocking Vignette

WWE dropped a teaser video on X of a mystery man dressed in suit pants and shiny black leather loafers, and fans are already theorizing who this man could be. 7:42 am ET is not exactly a conventional time to post something important; however, the video has generated buzz amongst fans.

Right now, we don’t have any other information to go along with the tweet. There is nothing that would indicate whether this was NXT or main roster related; however, NXT Halloween Havoc was last night. Below, I will take a look at five professional wrestlers who could be the mystery man that WWE has presented to us.

Tony D’Angelo

Dons do wear suits, and Tony D’Angelo has been nowhere to be seen on NXT programming since July 29. That show would close with D’Angelo being approached by a shadowy figure.

D’Angelo has been a staple of NXT since the brand’s reboot in 2021. He has won the NXT Tag Team Championship, the Heritage Cup, and the NXT North American Championship. By winning the latter, he became the first man to beat Oba Femi on NXT television.

The 30-year-old was among the famed February 2021 Performance Center recruiting class, having signed alongside Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and Trick Williams. D’Angelo is yet to reach the heights of those three names and still waits to make his main roster debut.

If the mystery man does happen to be the Don, he will be without his family. The D’Angelo family imploded over the summer, with his henchmen, Luca Crusifino and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, parting ways with the Don. Their feud ended with D’Angelo winning a triple threat match on the July 15 episode of NXT.

Santos Escobar

In a shocking turn of events, Santos Escobar allowed his WWE contract to expire earlier this month. On October 8, 2025, less than 48 hours after becoming a free agent, he reportedly re-signed with the company. The leader of Legado del Fantasma last wrestled on WWE TV at the Worlds Collide show on June 7.

Since re-signing, his stablemates Angel and Berto have wrestled on SmackDown without him. The 41-year-old is a supremely talented performer but has unfortunately been reduced to a managerial role. Escobar originally joined WWE in 2019; however, his main roster run has been primarily underwhelming. Given the names that have been theorized, fans may be disappointed if the mystery man is the former Cruiserweight Champion.

Andrade

From one Mexican wrestler to another, Andrade’s future is currently in limbo amid ongoing legal speculation. The former NXT Champion was reportedly fired by WWE last month due to numerous wellness policy violations, according to PWInsider. He would then shockingly return to All Elite Wrestling on October 1, attacking Kenny Omega. He has not been since.

There is speculation that Andrade’s termination included a one-year non-compete clause. Whether or not this is enforceable is up for debate. Andrade’s most recent run in WWE was a mixed bag that was marred by personal turbulence. He went through a divorce with future Hall of Famer Charlotte Flair.

His on-screen character lacked story direction; however, he did have outstanding matches with Carmelo Hayes in late 2024. He was also gaining traction in a tag team with Rey Fenix before his abrupt departure.

The likelihood of the mystery man being Andrade is low, given that he is an AEW employee. That hasn’t stopped fans from believing that the 35-year-old is the mystery man.

Gunther

This would make the most logical sense. The Ring General last appeared on WWE Programming at the Saturday edition of SummerSlam 2025. His World Heavyweight Championship loss to CM Punk was a technically proficient affair, and the fans have been waiting for the Austrian to return.

Gunther’s WWE career has been nothing short of phenomenal. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion only had to wait a few months to win gold again after his 666-day reign ended at WrestleMania XL. Throughout his entire main roster run, only CM Punk, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, and Sami Zayn have managed to slay Gunther.

From a fashion standpoint, the suave attire worn by the mystery man would indicate Gunther’s impending return. Some fans jokingly disagree as they believe that the two-time World Heavyweight Champion would not wear socks with loafers.

According to Dave Meltzer, it is rumored that Gunther will be John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. Having already been Goldberg’s final opponent in July, it is clear that Triple H values Gunther to carry older performers to good matches. A win against Cena would be another accolade on the Ring General’s already stellar resume.

Chris Jericho

It is time for Chris Jericho to come home. Y2J last wrestled for WWE in 2018, being the final entrant in the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble Match in Saudi Arabia. Jericho put an end to his on-off 19-year WWE run by signing with AEW.

The decision to cap his WWE run came about due to his belief that he had hit an unbreakable ceiling in WWE. Jericho and Kevin Owens had arguably one of the best stories in WWE during the latter stages of 2016 and early 2017. He was initially scheduled to win the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 33. Vince McMahon would, unfortunately, change his mind.

Shortly after signing with AEW in 2019, Jericho was crowned the inaugural AEW Heavyweight Champion after defeating Adam Page at All Out. However, after six years with the promotion, the 54-year-old has hit a ceiling again, with AEW fans growing tired of the legend. Jericho has not been on AEW television since April, and his last match was a loss to Bandido for the ROH World Championship.

Jericho’s contract reportedly expires at the end of 2025, and WWE fans have been begging the Fozzy frontman to return. Cryptic messages are on brand for Jericho; his 1999 debut vignettes, as well as his 2008 and 2012 return vignettes, are evidence. The mystery man wearing smart attire could be a reference to his iconic 2008 run.

With a career spanning 35 years, Chris Jericho is without doubt one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. His ability to constantly reinvent himself is one of the main reasons why his career has lasted as long as it has. Although he has lost a step due to his older age, one final run with WWE is something that fans yearn for. A WWE return looks increasingly likely, but whether or not Jericho is the mystery man is to be seen.
