At Wrestlepalooza on September 20, Stephanie Vaquer won the Women’s World Championship in a match against IYO SKY. The title was previously held by Naomi, who vacated it due to her pregnancy. Three weeks later, she won the Crown Jewel Championship against Tiffany Stratton. If that doesn’t seem impressive enough, she just joined the WWE Raw roster in late May.
With that much success in five months, many women started to take notice. Of course, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez were two of those women. The Judgment Day as a whole are always on the lookout for championships. Even though it was a non-title match, they wanted to see what she was made of. Luckily, she had some backup in Nikki Bella in case things got messy, even though she didn’t know it yet.
Bella Aids Vaquer to Combat Post Match Beatdown
A confrontation happening last week on the October 13 episode of Raw led to the match. Vaquer made her first entrance as double champion, two days removed from winning at Crown Jewel. Jackie Redmond was by her side, ready to interview her and hear her thoughts on the victory. She was talking about how she was the first person to win four titles in one year, two in NXT and her two current titles.
That’s when the interview turned into a staredown. Wanting some notoriety of their own, Perez and Rodriguez came out and interrupted the interview. Perez said she should’ve been at Wrestlepalooza since she was the last woman to beat Sky.
She wanted a match on her time, which ended up happening the following week. Both women looked strong in the match. They showed how athletic they were as they tried to get the win for themselves. Vaquer got the advantage when both Perez and Rodriguez were outside. She hit the crossbody on them as the jumped from the ringpost. Perez got dragged helplessly into the ring, still dazed from the jump’s impact.
Vaquer hit Angel’s Wings and pinned her, waiting for the three count. She got it, and she won the match. Enraged, Perez and Rodriguez attacked her. Both were angry about the defeat and wanted to handicap her by any means necessary. That’s when Bella arrived to even the odds. She started beating up the two members of the Judgment Day in quick fashion. Eventually, when she recovered from their attack, Vaquer joined in.
Soon enough, Bella and Vaquer stood tall in the ring while Perez and Rodriguez watched helplessly from the outside. It seems like a tag match is on the horizon. Bella and Vaquer should celebrate this victory but also prepare for retribution from Perez and Rodriguez.
