Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Wild NXT and TNA Wrestling Stars Brawl Ends 9/23 WWE NXT

Since the start of the year, NXT and TNA have had an official partnership. This partnership allows for wrestlers from both companies to compete in each other’s weekly television and PLE events. We’ve seen lots of amazing things happen that were only possible through this alliance. Joe Hendry has become a household name in WWE NXT, Jacy Jayne became the TNA Knockouts Champion, and many debuts happened over the last couple of months. But there’s been nothing as controversial as Trick Williams’ TNA World Championship win.

He won it from Joe Hendry at NXT Battleground, changing the landscape of the NXT-TNA alliance. The belt has been defended several times, but the latest defense made history. Williams defended it against Oba Femi, who is the current NXT champion. Who would walk out of NXT as a double champion?

TNA World Championship Match Devolves into Chaos

On September 23, 2025, the episode of NXT, history was made for both companies in the main event. Two NXT wrestlers were competing for a TNA belt, a company that neither contractually works for. Multiple TNA wrestlers were inside the WWE Performance Center watching the match and monitoring the arena for trouble. The match had a guest commentator in Mike Santana. He faces the winner at Bound for Glory on October 12. As far as the match was concerned, Femi and Williams did what they do best.

They used their agility, speed, and strength to showcase their athleticism. The two of them kicked out multiple times during the match, displaying their desire to become double champions. The turning point came when both men were outside the ring. Williams hurled Femi into the steel steps, getting Santana’s attention. They went face-to-face, then Williams slapped him.

That caused the TNA wrestlers to jump the barricade to attack him. Multiple NXT wrestlers came out from the back and started brawling with them. It’s safe to say that the NXT wrestlers were waiting backstage in case this happened. This marks a turning point in the relationship between the two companies.

No longer will they be playing nice with each other. Lost in the shuffle was an important development in regards to Saturday. Femi will face Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship at No Mercy. While everyone was brawling, Saints went over and held the championship in his hand. Femi noticed and snatched the title away before they had an intense stare-down.

With Femi now clearly focused on Saturday, it’ll be interesting to see what Saints will do to try to beat him. The NXT and TNA relationship is now clearly fractured. Will it get better if Santana wins the TNA World Championship, or will a Williams retention cause even more problems for the two companies’ wrestlers?
