AEW Dynamite Preview (9/10/25) – Philly Street Fight

AEW’s penultimate night in Philadelphia is shaping up with grudge matches and another ECW-inspired match stipulation on this week’s AEW Dynamite. Plus, after an eventful episode of Collision, with MJF delaying his honeymoon to spite Mark Briscoe and Big Bill challenging the Mad King, Eddie Kingston, the fuse has been lit for more huge developments heading to All Out.

After Riho’s return last week, Emi Sakura is back on Dynamite to team with Mercedes Mone. Against Riho and Alex Windsor(!), it will be interesting to see if Mone is willing to learn from her All Out opponent’s former mentor and teacher.  Will these two big egos be able to co-exist? Or might Windsor be able to make Mone tap- I mean, attack a bug on the canvas again.

Ricochet must answer for his recent actions in a battle of the balds. Costing The Hurt Syndicate the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Forbidden Door, The Man Who is Out of This World had to contend with the Gold Standard. This could be an athletic and character-driven contest. Yet, there is the potential for chaos with their faction partners.

If Ricochet did not want a war, he should not have started one.

AEW Dynamite Matches Announced

  • Shelton Benjamin vs. Ricochet
  • Mercedes Mone and Emi Sakura vs. Alex Windsor and Riho
  • Grudge match: Hangman Adam Page vs. Josh Alexander
  • Philly Street Fight: “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue

Grudge Match

Hangman Adam Page looks like he will run the gauntlet of the Don Callis Family. Josh Alexander is a great starting point because the grudge is two-way. It’s more than Page’s anger with the Family for taking out Kenny Omega. Alexander lost his debut match to the Hangman in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Immediately, a frustrated and soured Alexander, with a whisper from The Invisible Hand, tried to take Page out of the tournament. Since then, Alexander has found a new purpose. On Collision, Alexander claimed he is a different wrestler and man since his debut match.

That first contest was physical, with Page leaping from the staging and Alexander planting Page on the corner of the apron. Alexander isn’t likely coming to the ring alone. The AEW World Champion is fighting against the odds. Nothing new, but the cowboy may have a plan.

A Timeless Philly Street Fight

Skye Blue, a wrestler in violent, bloody, plunder matches, has been called a “sick f#ck” and will take on “Timeless” Toni Storm. A woman who is known for her blending of drama and theatrics with violence. A woman who is seeking her own murderer.

AEW says the women’s division has a rich history of four-ways. The reality is that the division’s best attributes, the women’s capabilities for creativity, and their hard work are best displayed in plunder matches where they fight against taboos and expectations to claim that desired equity.

There is potential for ECW call-backs and humour, and in shocks. Maybe we’ll have a Rocky-style montage from “Timeless” Toni Storm. Or, given Storm’s love of The Sandman, a unique cosplay and entrance. There may also be spots or the use of weapons linked to the 2300 Arena.

Expect fans to be chanting “you’re hardcore” for both women by the match’s finish.
