AEW Dynamite Preview (8/27/25) – Darby Allin in a Falls Count Anywhere Match

It’s Wednesday, and that means lots of late graphic drops for AEW Dynamite tonight, coming live from the historic 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Things are about to get extreme in the old home of ECW. For many fans and wrestlers, this is one of the meccas of wrestling. For Tony Khan, who attended the arena as a 13-year-old back in 1996, 29 years ago, this will be a massive milestone for AEW.

Expect this run to pay tribute to its heritage and history. Beyond stipulations over the next few weeks, we may see some old and familiar faces, make appearances, or even compete. Forbidden Door ended with gummy bears, bleeding ears, broken tables, and Darby Allin, who did not die, will be in action tonight.

Elsewhere, the man who sent Will Ospreay to the hospital, Jon Moxley, faces Daniel Garcia. Harley Cameron and a new friend will try their luck against the Goddess Megan Bayne. Plus, we will likely hear from our new AEW World Tag Team Champions, Brodido and former tag team champions, The Hurt Syndicate.

What surprises and secrets does AEW have for us?

AEW Dynamite Matches Announced:

  • Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia
  • Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander
  • Falls Count Anywhere: Darby Allin vs Claudio Castagnoli

Who Will Feel the Wrath?

After a banger of a match on the preshow, Harley Cameron is determined to take another shot at Megan Bayne. Broken nose or not, Cameron is as relentless as Bayne is indomitable. Brave or stupid, Cameron’s partner, unlike her past three, has come close to defeating Bayne. Kris Statlander and Bayne have collided multiple times, with the Goddess each time scoring the victory.

Don’t expect Penelope Ford, Bayne’s partner, to follow the rules any more than when The Bad Girl is outside the ring. Ford is sneaky and dangerous, but she is beatable, and Bayne’s only current weakness.

Post-match, will we be any closer to a women’s Blood and Guts match?

Falls Count Anywhere

Returning to the ring at Forbidden Door, Darby Allin eased himself back into things- who am I fooling? Honestly, from where I was in the crowd, I thought Moxley had a pizza cutter and was taking inspiration from John Woo’s Face/Off. Somehow, ear stuff was more sick-inducing. Plus, there were other gnarly bumps, including diving through two layers of tables onto Gabe Kidd.

However, Allin will face a bigger challenge than he faced at The O2. In Darby Allin’s war against the Death Riders, one man has been Moxley’s gatekeeper and has prevented Allin from being a serious threat. Claudio Castagnoli, the Swiss workhorse, had Allin’s number last year. Before and then during the Continental Classic, Castagnoli had done more than pin Allin. Castagnoli has manhandled Allin like a bear with a salmon.

Yet, each attempt to put Allin down has been futile. Allin always gets up. Even after being thrown down a flight of stairs, Allin climbed Everest before descending from the rooftop at All In Texas. Castagnoli is the gatekeeper separating Allin from his showdown with Moxley.

The stipulation, on the one hand, suits Allin, yet on the other, gives Castagnoli more freedom and places to manhandle Allin. Let’s hope these two don’t end up playing in traffic or by the railway lines.
