Current Champion Signs New Long-Term Deal with AEW

AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has committed his future to All Elite Wrestling, signing a new long-term contract with the company.

According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, Fletcher quietly agreed to the multi-year deal back in the spring. While exact terms have not been disclosed, the contract is reportedly a “big-money” agreement, given Fletcher’s age of just 26. AEW President Tony Khan reportedly views ‘The Protostar’ as a central figure in the company’s future plans, with expectations that he will be a major player for years to come.

The announcement comes on the heels of Fletcher’s first defence of the TNT Championship on the August 9 edition of AEW Collision. He defeated Tomohiro Ishii in a hard-hitting contest before calling on New Japan Pro Wrestling to send one of its top stars to challenge him at Forbidden Door on August 24.

Kyle Fletcher’s Journey in AEW

Fletcher’s journey in AEW has been one of the promotion’s fastest ascents in recent memory. After signing alongside Aussie Open partner Mark Davis in 2023, a wrist injury to Davis at WrestleDream that October sidelined the tag team.

Fletcher seized the opportunity to branch into singles competition, aligning himself with the Don Callis Family and debuting the ‘Protostar’ persona. This run quickly brought results, with Fletcher capturing the ROH TV Championship at ROH Final Battle 2023.

His career took another major turn at WrestleDream 2024, where he turned on former ally Will Ospreay, launching a heated rivalry that ran into this year. Fletcher’s performances in the 2024 Continental Classic, where he earned the most league points, solidified his position as one of AEW’s top prospects. That momentum culminated in July 2025, when he dethroned Dustin Rhodes in a brutal street fight to win the TNT Championship.

With a lucrative new deal signed and a championship reign underway, Kyle Fletcher’s trajectory in AEW appears only to be accelerating, and this new deal suggests it isn’t slowing down anytime soon, with many seeing him as an AEW World Champion in the not-so-distant future.
