Race to 10 Points Commence

The battle for the three playoff spots in the B Block is airtight, as seven out of the nine wrestlers in it have eight points. Day 12 sees six of those seven in action, and only four of them will end with 10 points by the end of the show.

In the main event, it will be the eighth time Shingo Takagi will face reigning IWGP World Heavyweight champion and tournament winner Zack Sabre Jr. one-on-one. Sabre only has a one-win advantage, which he got at last year’s tournament semifinal, eliminating Takagi.

This match is a must-win for Takagi, as he seeks to keep his playoff hopes alive. Currently with six points, he has to beat the World champ to have a chance to end the tournament in double figures and to be in the playoff picture. Meanwhile, Sabre is looking to keep his position at the top of the block by reaching the 10-point mark.

In the semifinal, Drilla Moloney aims to keep himself in the top three by beating the NJPW World TV champion El Phantasmo, who has had an abysmal showing in this year’s tournament. With a record of two wins and five losses and only four points, ELP is mathematically eliminated.

Although that is the case, the Headbanger will not quietly go into the night. With an opponent who’s a reigning champion and has nothing to lose, can Moloney secure the win and bounce back from his previous loss against Konosuke Takeshita?

Speaking of The Alpha, he will face YOSHI-HASHI to open the show’s tournament action. Takeshita will try to score another two-match win streak and stay in the top three against The Headhunter, who started off the tournament well but has now lost back-to-back.

Following that match will be the battle between Great O-Khan and Ren Narita. This will be their first time squaring off, which could not have happened in a more crucial time, with playoff contention hanging in the balance.
