Major Comeback at TNA Slammiversary 2025 Leads to First Bound For Glory Match

Bully Ray made a shocking comeback at TNA Slammiversary. After the Hardys regained the TNA World Tag Team Championship, the TNA Hall of Famer made his way to the ring. As Matt Rehwoldt and Tom Hannifan said, “Bully Ray is locking eyes with two old friends… and two old foes.”

His message was pretty clear. On October 12, there will be TNA Bound For Glory. “Hardys, Team 3D, one last match!” The crowd asked where D-Von was. Bully Ray replied, “That’s a great question because, at Bound For Glory, you’re gonna hear one last time, ‘D-Von! Get the tables!” As the Hardys shook hands with Bully Ray, we can officially say: A Tables and Ladders match is so set for Bound For Glory.

The story between these two teams has lasted for more than 25 years. Alongside the team of Edge and Christian, they popularized the TLC matches. In 1999, the particular weapons of tables, ladders, and chairs were seen as unique to each team’s style. The Hardys were seen as high-flying daredevils with a penchant for using ladders, the Dudley Boyz would often use tables as weapons, and Edge and Christian became notable for using steel chairs in tandem against opponents.

The idea of the TLC match in WWF had its origins in a tag team ladder match for the managerial services of Terri Runnels between Edge and Christian and The Hardy Boyz (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy), at No Mercy 1999 during the Attitude Era, with the audience giving all four wrestlers a standing ovation at the end of the match.

The move catapulted both tag teams to the top of the tag team world. The following months had The Hardy Boyz face The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) at the Royal Rumble 2000, in a violent and chaotic tag-team Tables match, where ladders and chairs were used as much as tables, had similar success. The TLC matches have since become a “classic” in the wrestling business.
