Zack Sabre Jr. & Hiroshi Tanahashi Announced for DDT Wrestle Peter Pan

Current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. and The Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi are set to wrestle for DDT’s biggest show of the year, Wrestle Peter Pan. Both announcements were made yesterday at ROCK IN RING 2025 in Korakuen Hall.

This year, DDT announced that it will be a two-day affair. Day one will be on August 30th at Higashin Arena, and day two will be at Korakuen Hall.

It was previously announced two weeks ago that ZSJ would be on the card, but no match was mentioned until yesterday at ROCK IN RING. He got involved in a shoving match with Schadenfreude International’s Chris Brookes and Takeshi Masada after the latter’s and Kosei Fujita’s tag team victory.

Chris didn’t seem to want to include Zack’s stablemate in TMDK when they were celebrating the win, and was the one who initiated the whole thing.

General Manager Imabayashi then settled things by booking a tag match for day one of Peter Pan, pitting ZSJ & Fujita against Brookes & Masada.

This marks ZSJ’s second match in DDT after teaming with Brookes to face Yuki Ueno and MAO at April Fool’s last year. The confrontation ended with the four throwing around Schadenfreude’s hand puppet, BunBun.

Before all that, after winning a 3-way match, Super Sasadango Machine proceeded to do one of his signature PowerPoint presentations. He surprised everyone when he finished it by announcing that Hiroshi Tanahashi will face one of DDT’s most decorated wrestlers in Danshoku Dieno on day two of Peter Pan.

Although Tanahashi has wrestled in DDT before, Peter Pan will be the first time he wrestles Dieno in a singles match. This follows his participation in the NJPW vs DDT show last June 9th, which was co-produced by Sasadango and Toru Yano.

The involvement of two of NJPW’s biggest stars makes the two-day event an absolute must-watch. Both shows will be streamed live on Wrestle Universe, available for ¥1,300 per month after a 1-week free trial.
