One of the most loved WWE superstars recently announced that his WWE contract will not be renewed. R-Truth posted the unfortunate news on X, explaining that his 17-year WWE career has come to an end.
It is a heartbreaking and shocking announcement to hear, as he had a match on Saturday Night’s Main Event against John Cena just recently. As sad as it is to see him go, we can look back on the remarkable career he has had with the WWE and the various ways he has entertained the fans.
Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you 🙏🏾

R-Truth Debuts
R-Truth made his first appearance in the company in 1999 as K-Kwik. This run lasted until 2001, after which he moved to TNA Wrestling from 2002 to 2008, and then returned to the WWE for another 17 years.
In the debut of K-Kwik, he came out and interfered in Road Dogg and William Regal’s match. And in his classic fashion, by the end of the segment, he was rapping in the ring with Road Dogg.
After leaving the WWE in 2001, Truth continued wrestling in TNA, where he held more championships and had main event matches. Upon his return to the WWE in 2008, Truth continued to make headlines and found a spot in the hearts of the fans.
There is no one else with such charisma, loyalty, or athleticism on the WWE roster. With his rapping, he brought his own personality into the character, making him authentic and able to connect with the audience on various levels.
Best WWE Feuds
The Awesome Truth is a moment in time that is memorable among fans, as they have had two runs together. The charisma and strong personalities of both men meshed so well together that it was impossible for them not to be entertaining.
Their first run together in the company was in 2011, and by the beginning of 2012, they split up. They teamed up due to their shared frustration with the WWE’s booking.
This tag team helped them build their characters and receive more screen time on television. Years later, they reunited and became the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 40.
2011 was also the same year as the birth of Little Jimmy, who managed to follow Truth around for the remainder of his time in the WWE. He hasn’t been present much in recent years. However, the fans haven’t forgotten him.
This recent feud with John Cena was also a significant one, as Truth has been saying for years that Cena is his hero and has worked with him multiple times. With Cena being the heel in the match, it gave interesting new circumstances to the audience. Unfortunately, little did we know that that would be R-Truth’s last feud in the company.
Championship Wins
In his first run in the WWE in 2001, under the name K-Kwik, R-Truth won the Hardcore Championship twice, which many people don’t acknowledge anymore. Many people don’t recognize his first run in the company in general. Although it was a brief run, it remains part of his history with the company.
Since then, Truth has held the United States Championship twice and the WWE Tag Team Championship once. The first tag title run was with Kofi Kingston in 2012, and the second one, being his last championship to hold, was with The Miz.
Not only did R-Truth win those championships, but he also holds the record for holding the 24/7 Championship the most. He has had 54 reigns with the 24/7 Championship, some reigns lasting not even an entire night, but that was the excitement of the championship.
The title was truly on the line 24/7, and we have seen some crazy ways the championship has changed hands. Truth has won the championship on a golf course, under the ring, on a plane, and in many more scenarios that one would be shocked to see.
The Legacy of R-Truth
After 17 years with the company, unfortunately, the time has come for the WWE Universe to say goodbye to R-Truth. He is truly an unforgettable character, having brought a wealth of value to the business. From his creativity to in-ring ability, he won over the hearts of the WWE fans and his colleagues as they expressed their love for him on X.
In all seriousness, this is literally so heartbreaking… Thank you Truth 🖤

He will be remembered for being incredibly athletic; not many people can last as long in the business as he has. He proved to us that he could continue to go in the ring as long as he wanted. Promos by Truth always brought a smile to faces, whether he was making a silly joke or calling someone by the wrong name, no one would be able to pull off what Truth has done.
This past Monday Night Raw was the first live event since the announcement of R-Truth’s release, and fans were chanting “We Want Truth”. The shock and sadness that fans felt regarding his release was palpable that night.
I feel I can speak for the WWE Universe when I say this, but we wish R-Truth the very best in his future, and thank him for everything that he has done in the WWE.
