Saturday Night’s Main Event: Date, Time, Location, and Full Card

This weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event card may well be the best one yet as WWE has stacked the event with huge championship, stipulation, and grudge matches, all of which could have serious implications for the future. Let’s dive right in.

World Heavyweight Championship – Jey Uso (C) vs Logan Paul: Jey Uso will defend his title against the man who has been a thorn in his side for weeks now. Ever since Paul announced his intent to go after the title, he has been one step ahead of the champ, hitting him with a knockout punch not once, not twice, but four times. The most recent one occurred after Uso battled Bron Breakker in a non-title match on Raw. The match ended when Seth Rollins interfered followed by Sami Zayn and CM Punk. As those four brawled, Paul took advantage and sucker punched Uso, who was recovering from the assault. Paul won’t have the benefit of surprise on the Saturday Night’s Main Event card as he’ll face Uso one-on-one in a ring. The winner of that match won’t have much time to celebrate however as they are on a collision course with Gunther on the June 9 edition of Raw. The winner of that seems headed for a title match against Rollins. No rest for the weary.

Steel Cage – Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest: It turns out their WrestleMania street fight wasn’t enough to settle things between these now bitter rivals. Make no mistake, Priest and McIntyre can’t stand each other and it all goes back to McIntyre’s delusional opinion that Priest is the reason why everything has gone wrong for him. McIntyre has cited Priest’s cash-in at WrestleMania XL, just seconds after he won the title, as the beginning of the end and he’s made it his life mission to take down the ‘Temu Undertaker.’ He tried to do just that in their street fight and while he was victorious, Priest didn’t go away. The two have continued to brawl at Backlash and on SmackDown weekly. Exasperated, Priest laid down the challenge for the Saturday Night’s Main Event card and McIntyre happily accepted.

Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker vs CM Punk/Sami Zayn: Paul Heyman’s new clients have been running wild over Raw but at every turn, Punk and Zayn have been there to stop them. Everything came to a head last week when both Zayn and Punk interfered on Jey Uso’s behalf causing the ire of Rollins and Breakker. That same configuration was back at it again this week when a brawl broke out after Rollins interfered to attack Uso during his match with Breakker. Saturday Night’s Main Event card will mark Breakker and Rollins’ first match as a new duo. Emotions will be high as there is no love lost between Punk and Rollins, but Zayn, that is a different story. Will Rollins be able to put down one of his few friends on the roster or will Zayn turn the tides by turning on Punk and aligning with the Heyman Guys?

John Cena vs R-Truth: This one is going to be emotional. At Backlash, Randy Orton was seconds away from punting Cena and likely winning the Undisputed WWE Championship before R-Truth came out to beg mercy on behalf of his childhood hero. The distraction was enough to give Cena time to recover and hit the AA on Orton to retain his title. But Truth received no thank you. Instead, he was given an AA and put through a table on the post-show. It was heartbreaking as Truth is the one guy who still believes in Cena. On Saturday, Truth and Cena will clash in a non-title match that is sure to tug at heartstrings. Truth has long been one of WWE’s best performers and his resumption of the Cena/childhood hero schtick has added a fantastic layer to the Unseen 17’s heel turn and title run. The only question now is, when Truth fails on the Saturday Night’s Main Event card, who will be left to save Cena from himself?

With four matches, none of which feature any female wrestlers, it seems likely WWE will add a fifth match to the Saturday Night’s Main Event card. After Raw tonight, where Lyra Valkyria cost Becky Lynch a chance to qualify for Money in the Bank, that could be the perfect match to add to this absolutely loaded card.
