WWE Backlash 2025 Results:
WWE United States Championship Match – Fatal 4-Way: Jacob Fatu (c) vs. LA Knight vs. Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre
As reported on the WWE Backlash 2025 “kick-off” show, this 4-Way for the United States Championship will open this big PLE in St. Louis. As expected, this was not a technical classic but a human demolition derby. It was an absolute coming-out party for Jacob Fatu, putting in a star-making performance. That said, Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, and Damian Priest all had very real shots at prying away the gold.
McIntyre, in particular, had Knight dead to rights at some point. Unfortunately, Priest was there once again to foil his plans of becoming a champion. These two would fight on the outside, ignoring the opportunity to secure the gold, which led to a massive South of Heaven Chokeslam on top of the equipment craters on the outside, taking both Priest and McIntyre out.

In the ring, LA Knight was closing in on his third reign as U.S. Champion. But to make sure he didn’t, Solo Sikoa would interfere, bringing in a former NJPW star to do his dirty work. Puzzled, Fatu had no choice but to capitalize. One Double-Jump Moonsault later, Jacob Fatu remains U.S. Champion.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Similar to the opener, this was a straight-up brawl between two women who absolutely hate each other. Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch tried to start proceedings with lock-ups and holds. However, there really was no hiding their disdain for each other. These two absolutely battered each other, with Becky Lynch, despite her stardom, being more desperate to beat Valkyria.
Becky tried absolutely everything, bringing a chair into the situation and unbuckling the top buckle to expose the steel. All that was for nothing. Lynch’s frustration got the best of her, leading to her former student rolling her up, getting the win, and retaining the Women’s Intercontinental Title.
This amazing match ended in the absolute worst way. After the bout, Lynch would dismantle the retaining Women’s IC Champion, putting her in the Dis-Arm-Her. Lynch was livid, giving Valkyria all she could handle. It’s just that tonight, Lyra Valkyria had the most to lose, and she took that to heart, leading to her successful title defense.
Once again, similar to Jacob Fatu, Lyra Valkyria showed that she belonged, and she’s the rightful holder of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta
Dominik Mysterio marched into this match with all the confidence in the world, and for good reason. Dom dominated most of this match, proving why he’s, according to him, the “best Intercontinental Champion of all time.” Penta would get his bearings late in the match.
Unfortunately, with the constant interference of The Judgment Day and eventually a headbutt from El Grande Americano, Penta did not have enough to win the IC Championship.

The aforementioned headbutt from Americano led to an impressive Frog Splash from Mysterio, gaining the victory and ensuring he kept the Intercontinental gold around his waist.
Gunther vs. Pat McAfee
Everyone expected this to be a mauling. However, Pat McAfee more than held his own against Gunther, almost getting him with an O’Connor Roll and a Rear Naked Choke. Michael Cole would scream at Gunther during the match, imploring him to end the match. Gunther would not oblige, toying with his food.
This lack of urgency from Gunther almost cost him the match, with Michael Cole pulling his feet and holding them down for a near-three count. Before that, Gunther would drag Cole into the ring, trying to intimidate him, as Cole would cheer on and get involved during the match to help his commentating partner and friend. But at the end of the day, Gunther would lock in, with “lock-in” an appropriate word to describe the finish of this match.

Gunther would make McAfee pass out with a Rear Naked Choke of his own, leading to a referee stoppage. At the conclusion of this match, Gunther would seemingly tip his hat to the valiant effort of Pat McAfee.
Undisputed WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton
For the main event, “One Last Time.” The final bout between Randy Orton and John Cena involves the Undisputed WWE Championship, and potentially, the future of the WWE as a whole. This contest also marks the final chapter of the near 20-year legendary rivalry between two future Hall-of-Famers and undeniably two of the greatest the industry has to offer.
This match was absolute chaos, but it’s truly a quintessential Randy Orton versus John Cena match. The WWE Universe saw countless RKOs and Attitude Adjustments, multiple tables broken, producers and a GM RKO’d, two referees knocked out, and the statistics go on and on.

In the end, only the result mattered. As Randy Orton was closing in on saving the professional wrestling industry and bagging his 15th world title, R-Truth would get in the middle of Orton and Cena before Randy could deliver the match-ending Punt Kick. Truth got more than he bargained for, getting an RKO for his troubles.
Cena would see the opportunity, giving Orton a low blow, followed up with an Undisputed WWE Title Belt blow for his first successful title defense after winning his 17th.
After the match, Cena explicitly stated that he doesn’t need anyone, he needs competition, and that everyone should come to terms with what a “last real champion” looks like to cap off the show.
