The April 1 edition of WWE NXT saw a major title change. This changes things in a major way heading into Stand & Deliver season. Here is everything you need to know.
AND NEW: NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints
Ricky Saints challenged Shawn Spears for the NXT North American Championship on the April 1 show. This was Saints’ first challenge for a WWE championship and, more specifically, an NXT championship.
The odds were stacked against Saints as Spears had The Culling in his corner. During the match, Saints had to deal with all members of The Culling. Ultimately, Saints picked up the victory, thus ending Spears’ reign at just 28 days.

Saints became the 25th champion in the NXT North American Championship’s lineage. Having joined NXT on February 11, Saints has now surpassed Ethan Page as the fastest to claim a title upon debut. Saints’ post-victory celebration did not last too long because Page then attacked him, and this would surely be his first challenge as champion.

Regardless, with only a couple of weeks until Stand & Deliver, there is a good chance that Saints will be heading into WrestleMania 41 weekend as a WWE champion.
