For the past two years, Alba Fyre wrestled in a tag team with Isla Dawn, dubbed the Unholy Union. They won both the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship while together. Unfortunately, their run came to an end last month.
On February 8, 2025, Isla Dawn was released as part of their yearly budget cuts. For weeks, people were speculating about Alba Fyre’s future. On the March 7, 2025 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, she attacked Michin during her WWE Women’s United States Championship match.
By doing that, she allowed Chelsea Green to retain her championship. It seems that she now has an alliance with Green and Piper Niven, paving the way for a singles run. Given her success as a singles competitor in years past, this is a great way for people to see how great Alba Fyre is on her own.
Alba Fyre Had a Great Singles Resume in NXT UK and NXT
If you only know Alba Fyre on the main roster, you’ve mainly only seen her in tag matches. However, people who have watched her in NXT UK and NXT know that there is way more to her than that.
On those brands, she built up an amazing singles career before being placed with Dawn. She held the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 649 days. Winning it at TakeOver: Cardiff from Toni Storm, she held it until Meiko Satomura beat her on the June 10, 2021 episode of NXT UK.
Even when she moved over to NXT, she took part in some high-profile matches. She participated in WarGames in 2021 and had several NXT Women’s Championship matches during her first few months in Orlando. Now that her tag team run is over, she can show everyone how capable she can be as a singles competitor.
Chelsea Green and Piper Niven Are Massively Over
With her charismatic personality and great wrestling skills, Chelsea Green is very popular at the moment. A huge part of that is her partnership with Piper Niven.
Some partnerships in WWE have felt forced or not worked at all. However, the two women play off each other perfectly, creating memorable moments every week. Adding another member to their group would make their popularity grow even more.
Luckily, picking Alba Fyre was a great decision for her and them. She could’ve been stuck on Main Event or as a jobber after Isla Dawn got released. But she got thrust straight into a major part of SmackDown, ensuring that she’ll get TV time and match opportunities.
For many wrestlers, the breakup of a tag team could mean the end of their WWE career. But, for Alba Fyre, being placed with Green and Niven could take her career to new heights.
Alba Fyre Can Show How Good She Is as a Singles Competitor
When a tag team gets split up, usually the writing is on the wall. The members either get released or are relegated to a lower spot on the card. However, some wrestlers go on to have a successful singles career afterward.
In the case of Alba Fyre, what happened on Friday was the break that she needed. Fyre was a great singles competitor in NXT UK and NXT, with main roster audiences now getting a taste of her true potential. She also aligned herself with two super-popular women on the blue brand.
Chelsea Green and Piper Niven have become a highlight every week on SmackDown, so lots of eyes are on them. Adding Fyre to the mix will add protection for Green’s Women’s United States Championship reign.
Alba Fyre’s reappearance on SmackDown last Friday could be the start of reestablishing her dominance in the women’s division.
