This Week’s SmackDown to Feature Cody Rhodes Addressing Elimination Chamber, Plus Two Returning Stars

This week’s Raw was incredibly revealing. Not only did WWE announce several major matches for WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden next week, there was also a WrestleMania 41 card shakeup, and several announcements made for this week’s SmackDown card and SmackDown preview as well.

SmackDown Preview and SmackDown Card for 3/7/25

During Raw, it was announced that both Jade Cargill and Randy Orton will be making their returns to SmackDown this week. Both returned at Elimination Chamber with revenge on their minds and they certainly executed that on Saturday. Cargill brutalized Naomi and took her out of the chamber before it even started and Orton showed up to prevent Kevin Owens from ending Sami Zayn’s career while almost ending Owens’ career himself with the Punt. Orton wasn’t able to execute but he gave out some RKOs to security for their trouble. Cargill meanwhile was successful as Naomi was ruled too injured to enter the chamber. We know that Owens turned on Orton and tried to end his career with the piledriver but it’s still unknown if Naomi was in fact Cargill’s attacker. There is no doubt Cargill will address this on Friday on the SmackDown card and SmackDown preview.

Cargill and Orton returning to TV for the first time in months is definitely noteworthy but the biggest news of the night came from Michael Cole, who announced that Cody Rhodes would be in the house live for the SmackDown card and SmackDown preview to address what happened on Saturday and John Cena’s shocking actions. Rhodes will face Cena for the world title at WrestleMania 41 but before that, there is no doubt the champ will have something to say about his challenger and the choices he made after winning the Elimination Chamber.
