In a surprising turn of events, WWE Raw commentator, the legendary Michael Cole, opened the proceedings, running down the card. He also introduced Indiana legend and his commentary partner Pat McAfee. The legendary punter would hype up the event, firing up the Indy crowd. Cole and McAfee would hand over the floor to Joe Tessitore.
Tessitore would welcome Kevin Owens, the man challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble in a Ladder Match, for a one-on-one interview.
Owens, over the last few weeks, felt like Tessitore was being impartial when it comes to the coverage of his upcoming matchup against Cody. Joe Tessitore would apologize, but Owens did not accept it and told him to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine and walked off with the Winged-Eagle Title.
Before he could walk away, CM Punk would enter the fray. Things got heated immediately. Punk says he’s guaranteeing a win at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 men’s match, while Owens stated that he hopes and prays Punk doesn’t win the Rumble and, in turn, never main event a WrestleMania.
Kevin Owens vs. CM Punk? 👀@FightOwensFight, keep your head on swivel. If all goes according to @CMPunk‘s plan, you’re next!#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/YrbAM8G8q8

Punk would take exception and ran down Kevin Owens’ failures and stated that if he never main events a WrestleMania, he could at least beat down Kevin Owens if he wanted to do it right then and there. Punk got the last word as Owens would walk away.
Backstage, we see The Miz talking to Nick Aldis about his plans for SmackDown as Andrade enters the fray. The Miz is still convincing him to become partners and take over SmackDown. Soon after, we see Jimmy Uso on his way to the ring, all fired up for his match with Carmelo Hayes.
Jimmy Uso vs. Carmelo Hayes
The match was a slugfest from bell to bell. Hayes and Jimmy Uso did not let up one bit, taking their best shots all contest long. Expectedly, this fight was full of fire and animosity, with Carmelo Hayes’ attack on Jimmy Uso prior to his match with Kevin Owens last week. A huge ring-spanning Splash almost got Melo the win.
Unfortunately for him, Jimmy Uso has a lot of fight left. The match came down to Hayes rolling up Uso, with him holding onto the ropes for leverage. Uso would reverse the hold and roll up Hayes himself for the three count, stunning the former NXT Champion.
Women’s United States Championship Match: Chelsea Green (c) vs. Michin
The rivalry between these two has reached a fever pitch. Chelsea Green and Michin went at it, with no one taking full control of the bout. Later in the contest, the two would scramble for pinfall attempts. Not long after, Michin would hit Eat Defeat. But Piper Niven once again proved to be the difference-maker, pulling out Green before she could be defeated.
B-Fab assisted by hitting Niven with the Bicycle Kick. Green tried to escape, and Michin pulled her back. However, Green had other plans, as she got disqualified after hitting the challenger with her own Kendo Stick.
Chelsea worked over Michin for a while before the O.C. member got the upper hand, punishing the United States Champion and gaining a semblance of revenge.
At the conclusion of that contest, Byron Saxton would interview Naomi and Bianca Belair about their thoughts on the Women’s Royal Rumble match. We also see that Damian Priest will be speaking to the SmackDown crowd tonight.
After the break, we see a video showcasing the return of Charlotte Flair at WWE Royal Rumble 2025. Stephanie McMahon was also in attendance tonight.
Damian Priest Takes Over SmackDown
Damian Priest did not mess around when speaking. He said he’s on SmackDown to win championships, and he’ll get to the mountaintop again sooner rather than later. Before he could continue, Jacob Fatu, with Tama Tonga, would hit the ring. Fatu also didn’t play around, issuing a warning to Priest that it was their house.
The situation would soon combust, leading to a fight. He would get overwhelmed by Fatu and Tama. Fortunately, LA Knight was there to even out the odds, challenging the two to a tag team match tonight.
Backstage, we see Los Garza and Motor City Machine Guns trying to get on the same page. #DIY and Pretty Deadly would make their way to the ring for their 8-Man Tag War against the teams mentioned above.
8-Man Tag Team Match: Motor City Machine Guns & Los Garza vs. #DIY & Pretty Deadly
Absolute chaos in this one. The action was hectic and hard-hitting, with both sides trying not to fall apart at the seams. Unfortunately, that’s what ended up happening. MCMG and Los Garza did not see eye-to-eye, with the latter walking away from the former tag champs to fend for themselves.
When the WWE Universe thought #DIY and Pretty Deadly got Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin dead to rights, Pretty Deadly would also turn their backs on the current WWE Tag Team Champions, taking exception to the errant kick of Tommaso Ciampa to Elton Prince in the corner.
Shocked he was refused a tag, Ciampa would fall victim to Sabin’s veteran instincts getting rolled up for the win.
After the match, we see Tama Tonga eyeing the WWE Tag Team Titles. #DIY would immediately retrieve them and was confronted by Pretty Deadly. Elton Prince and Kit Wilson stated that they would not be around to assist at the Royal Rumble, and Ciampa and Johnny Gargano would be on their own.
We cut back into the stage area with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee as they interview Indiana Pacers franchise player Tyrese Haliburton. They ended up having a good time reviewing the pre-show proceedings, which involved Michael Cole and Cody Rhodes crowd-surfing in the Indiana crowd.
Naomi vs. Liv Morgan

— WWE (@WWE) February 1, 2025
With the Women’s Royal Rumble tomorrow night, Naomi and Liv Morgan fought tooth and nail to gain momentum heading into the monumental 30-woman contest. The WWE Universe was not surprised at all, as these two former Women’s Champions would unleash everything they had on each other.
Near the end of the match, Naomi would hit Rear View and ascended the top rope before getting distracted by Raquel Rodriguez. Bianca Belair did not stand for it and pulled off Big Mami Cool. Naomi would miss a moonsault, and Liv Morgan would capitalize with a rollup.
Naomi would reverse the attempt, pinning Morgan for the win. Post-match, Morgan and Rodriguez would exact their revenge immediately, decimating the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, adding to these exciting WWE SmackDown results.
The Miz vs. Andrade
The “A-Lister,” fresh off his transfer to SmackDown, will be taking on Andrade. Miz fought valiantly, and so did Andrade. But with one Reverse Elbow to the face, Andrade would win, spoiling The Miz’s return to SmackDown.
Backstage, Santos Escobar, R-Truth, and his tag partner for the main event, LA Knight, would speak to Damian Priest about different matters. Knight had the most to say, stating that at the Rumble, there would be no friends. But for tonight, they focus on the main event.
Zelina Vega also made her return to the Blue brand tonight, running into WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. Vega spoke about the opportunity to win the 30-woman bout, and Stratton replied by passive-aggressively wishing her luck as she made her way into the arena to talk to Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
Stratton Speaks
Cole and Pat ask Stratton about the Royal Rumble, and she quickly answers that she is not concerned no matter who wins the match. Immediately after, Candice LeRae would make her way to the ring. LeRae would make it explicitly clear that she and Nia Jax felt betrayed, and she wants Tiffany Stratton to pay for it, as she declares for the Royal Rumble.
“It is ALWAYS Tiffy Time!” ⏰
We’ll see what @CandiceLeRae has to say about that…#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/T60WUMLw26
— WWE (@WWE) February 1, 2025
Tiffany Stratton would not back down and talked LeRae’s ear off, dressing her down with harsh words before Nia Jax dismantled her former friend and made a statement ahead of tomorrow’s WWE Royal Rumble 2025.
The main event starts now as LA Knight and Damian Priest battle Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga.

Talk about pulling no punches. These two teams went at it hard in the final match of the night. As always, LA Knight and Damian Priest were extremely impressive, as were Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga devastating. A compelling match that deserved the top billing, the match reached its climax when Damian Priest got a full head of steam, wrecking the entire playing field.
The main event concluded with Damian Priest hitting Tama Tonga with the South Of Heaven for the pin. That said, Jacob Fatu got the last laugh on the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Fatu would connect with a violent Thrust Kick, quickly followed up by his earth-shattering Double Jump Moonsault to end the night.
With that, WWE SmackDown results for the last day of January 2025 conclude.
That’s all for the WWE SmackDown results for January 31st, 2025. What did you think of the WWE SmackDown results, and are you excited about the WWE Royal Rumble 2025?
