Tensions are heating up among the WWE roster as the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 PLE approaches, where superstars have the opportunity to get what every wrestler dreams of: a championship match main-eventing WrestleMania. Who will be left standing in the ring, pointing at the WrestleMania sign this Saturday?
With the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event already taking place this Saturday, we can’t help but speculate who will make their return. We are already seeing entrants in both the men’s and women’s rumble match, one of whom is Charlotte Flair, who is returning to the ring from a knee injury.
Since WWE announced Flair’s return, it can’t help but make us think of what unplanned returns they have up their sleeves for the women’s Rumble match. The excitement of the Royal Rumble PLE lies in the element of surprise. You never know who may return to the ring, but rumors have floated around about who may appear.
Becky Lynch
The last time we saw Becky Lynch in a WWE ring was in May 2024, when she lost to Liv Morgan in a steel cage on Monday Night Raw. Lynch’s contract was set to expire, and it has been reported that she was taking a hiatus. During this time off of hers, she has been focusing on promoting her book and being a mother to her daughter.
Since her last match, it has been debated when the man will return to the ring. She is a fan favorite, but many new stars have joined the main roster during her absence. This means new opponents that we would love to see the man face.
Asuka
Asuka has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in May 2024 in a match against Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. She underwent surgery and is reported to be able to return as soon as the rumble.
Just because she may be able to return doesn’t mean she will. WWE’s creative team has supposedly been discussing plans for Asuka’s return, but not much that may be suitable has been released.
It’s exciting when a wrestler makes their return, not only to see them in the ring again but to see who they align themselves with. Will Asuka stay aligned with Iyo Sky upon her return? Will she come back and eliminate her in the women’s WWE Royal Rumble 2025 match?
Nikki Bella
Nikki Bella has appeared in two of the seven women’s Royal Rumble matches, but I feel there is a chance she will appear every year. She has always shown her love for the ring but has previously battled a career-ending neck injury. Now, she has an adorable son and is focusing on mothering.
However, since Nikki Bella appeared on the Netflix premiere of Monday Night Raw, everyone has been discussing a possible comeback. WWE’s post of Nikki Bella on Twitter at the event became their most viewed post, with now 5.6 million views.

Bella has always been in phenomenal shape. She has shown that no matter how much time she has off, she can step back into the ring without missing a step.
Brie Bella
While it isn’t discussed as much as Nikki Bella’s return, I don’t see any reason for Brie Bella not to have the chance to return other than just creative planning. Brie Bella has also always been in great shape and has been in two women’s Royal Rumble matches.
If she does appear, it is likely to be a one-time appearance, while there is the chance that her sister, Nikki Bella, may stay for a story. WWE always knows how to surprise us, so we must wait and see.
AJ Lee
Since CM Punk returned, all people are talking about is his wife, AJ Lee, and her return. It doesn’t feel likely that AJ Lee will return anytime soon, but that could be because it feels too good to be true. Lee has been preoccupied with her ventures, creating comic books and movies, but she always said, “Never say never” when talking about an in-ring return.
WWE would be very open to having her back, as CM Punk has mentioned her multiple times on TV and said he would love to have her back. Before CM Punk rejoined WWE, nothing was mentioned about him or AJ Lee on WWE TV or social media. With Punk back, WWE has begun to mention Lee again.
Even recently, a video on social media showed Chelsea Green picking Royal Rumble winners, and AJ Lee was featured in the running. If AJ Lee returns, whether at the Royal Rumble or another night, it will be unforgettable. But what will we see this Saturday?
