Last Saturday, NXT Deadline was held at the Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was an event filled with tons of action and even more thrilling results.
Oba Femi won the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, while Giulia won the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge. After the show ended, social media was buzzing about the event. The one thing that was praised was the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge.
The competitors, action, and results were getting thumbs up from nearly everybody online. There are a few reasons why people loved it so much. The premium live event definitely saved the best for last, as the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge was a hit this year.
The Match Was Entertaining Until the Very End
Whenever a multi-person match happens, there’s always the question of its unpredictability and whether one wrestler will dominate over everyone else. What happened on Saturday had everyone on the edge of their seats. One by one, all five women secured pinfalls until it was tied at one with only forty seconds to go.
It looked like anyone could get the second pinfall, except for Sol Ruca, who was in the penalty box after being pinned by Wren Sinclair. Everyone tried to break the tie, with Giulia hitting the Arrivederci knee strike on Stephanie Vaquer, earning the second fall. Vaquer tried to roll her up twice but was defeated by the clock.
Five powerhouse women put on an amazing show, with a defining winner coming in the closing seconds. That was the perfect way to end a match like this, as it created massive anticipation and a memorable ending.
All Five Could’ve Become NXT Iron Survivor
Before the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge even started, fans were predicting a great match. Looking at the lineup, you see the star power there. An indie standout in Wren Sinclair, three international stars in Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and Zaria, and an amazing homegrown talent in Sol Ruca.
All five have gotten accolades across the board from different companies and countries. If you want a match with star power, this match is the one you’ve been looking for. What they proceeded to do was put on one of the best matches of the year.
The international stars have delivered in their short runs in NXT, with Sol Ruca and Wren Sinclair showing off their powerful abilities as well. The last-second encounter with Giulia and Vaquer certainly teased a future match, something wrestling fans loved as well. All in all, it was a great match filled with super talented women.
The NXT Women’s Division is in Good Hands
One thing that always worries wrestling fans is that, when people get called up to the main roster, the placeholders won’t be as good as the people who got moved up. The Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge proved that no such worries are needed.
If and/or when women like Fallon Henley, Jakara Jackson, Lash Legend, and Roxanne Perez get drafted or traded, there are women in NXT who can fill their shoes easily. A good thing about this type of match is that it showcases the future. It allows wrestlers who haven’t spent much time in NXT to show off their skills and what they can do in the ring.
The match is basically a tryout for the top spots once people move up to the main roster. If the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge is any indication, the NXT women’s division won’t stop making great matches anytime soon.
