On the November 28, 2014, episode of SmackDown, fans were introduced to The New Day. With their wacky antics and championship wins, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods brought the power of positivity everywhere they went along with laughter and smiles.
Even after Big E suffered a neck injury on the March 11, 2022 episode of SmackDown, Kingston and Woods still kept smiling. But, over the past couple of months, things have not gone well for the duo.
Losses and frustration created tension, with things boiling over on last week’s Raw. With the stable’s 10-year celebration coming up, can a Big E return cause Kingston and Woods to mend their relationship, or is it broken beyond repair?
A Returning Big E is the Missing Piece of the Puzzle
Whenever two people fight or aren’t getting along, there’s always a third person involved in the situation. Sometimes they break them apart to prevent the situation from escalating. Other times, they attempt to play the peacemaker.
All eyes are going to be on Big E, who hasn’t wrestled in nearly three years. His two stablemates are ready to call it quits, leaving each other after ten years on the main roster together. He has been mentioned several times in their arguments, with them seemingly knowing he’s the one who was the glue of the group.
Without him, The New Day has not felt complete. That sentiment is shared by many fans. A Big E pep talk could not only repair Kingston and Woods’ relationship, but it’ll also give the fans a reunion they’ve been wanting for years.
Kingston and Woods Have Gone Too Far
Even if Big E returns to attempt to mend their friendship, it may be too late for Kingston and Woods to stay friends. In arguments, people tend to say things they don’t really mean.
For weeks, they have been fighting, blaming each other for losing every week. Their frustration boiled over last week, when their squabbles devolved into personal insults. They repeatedly brought up each other’s lowest moments in the company, including Kingston’s infamous six-second squash by Brock Lesnar.
When things get that personal, people say things that unfortunately are hard to forgive. Having Big E present at their celebration is nice but, if they can’t get past their differences, that won’t matter. Unless they apologize for what was said last week, the celebration will be the last time The New Day will be together as a group.
Will Big E Truly Make a Difference?
Fans are eagerly awaiting the New Day’s 10-year celebration. It will be a segment that celebrates one of the most popular and successful stables in WWE history. Big E being there will be great to see as well.
But a dark cloud is hovering over this happy time, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods more apart than ever. After last Monday’s fight, it seems that the two men are past the point of making up. Big E’s presence could bring them together, or it ultimately couldn’t matter at all.
There’s only two ways for this to go, and many fans want them to make up with each other. It’ll be interesting to see Big E face-to-face with the feuding friends, something that will be much anticipated by everyone.
