#AndNEW: Eddie Kingston Wins Ring of Honor World Championship

Eddie Kingston Wins ROH Championship: Grand Slam Title Card

The Grand Slam edition of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Grand Slam started off with a bang. Eddie Kingston captured the Ring of Honor (ROH) World Championship from Blackpool Combat Club member and long-time rival Claudio Castagnoli.

Eddie Kingston Captures the Ring of Honor (ROH) World Championship

The match had all of the physicality that the two competitors have become known for both inside and outside of their matches with each other. The match was high stakes as both men put their titles on the line. While Claudio put the ROH World Championship on the line, Eddie put the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship on the line. Regardless of the decision, one man was walking out of New York City with two title belts. Kingston was able to accomplish that in his hometown of New York City.

In the build-up to this match, both Kingston and Castagnoli decided the winner of this match would be the better man, effectively ending the long-time rivalry. They made good on their word as the Code of Honor was adhered to. As Wheeler Yuta helped Castagnoli to his feet, Castagnoli extended his hand. Eddie Kingston thought for a moment before shaking the hand of Claudio and receiving the coveted title from his rival.
