Preview: AEW Dynamite (8/16/23) – Fight for the Fallen

An AEW Dynamite match graphics hyping up MJF and Adam Cole's appearance on the special "Fight for the Fallen" edition of the program.

With a little less than two weeks to go before All Elite Wrestling holds the biggest professional wrestling event ever All In, the promotion is not taking its foot off the gas pedal one bit as they bring another exciting “Fight for the Fallen” edition of AEW Dynamite. Live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, AEW’s best will surely bring everything they have to amaze and delight the #AllElite fans.

With all that out of the way, let’s get right into it. It’s almost Wednesday night, and you know what that means! Here’s a preview of the latest edition of AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

A Fatal Fight

On August 27th at the Wembley Arena, the AEW Women’s World Championship will be up for grabs. With three slots already taken for this four-way match for the gold, one being taken by the history-making current champion Hikaru Shida, one guaranteed ticket to London remains.

For the last spot, fans will see The Bunny and former champion in her own right Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. duke it out for the final spot in the monumental bout. The Bunny has been pathless for a while now, and qualifying for this match and competing in one of the best venues around the world could be the event that turns it all around for her.

Heck, if she does qualify, The Bunny may even pull off the upset and sit atop the AEW Women’s Division just like that. However, it will not be easy. Baker will be hell-bent on regaining the title she won from Shida at the 2021 edition of Double or Nothing, and become a two-time titleholder as well.

Who will nab the last opening for this major four-way match for the AEW Women’s World Championship? Will The Bunny finally catch a break? Or will “The Doctor” be making a house call in London?

Better Than You, BayBay or Better Off Without?

On last week’s Dynamite, the “Brochachos for Life” Adam Cole and MJF made a huge announcement, stating that they still want tag team gold and are challenging current Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions Aussie Open for the titles on the All In London’s “Zero Hour” Pre-Show. Of course, this means that both will compete twice on the same night as they will headline the whole event.

It’ll be crazy if these two can manage to win gold ahead of their world championship match later in the night. However, after that proclamation, things started to take a seemingly rough turn for the pairing when Roderick Strong had some harsh words for Cole’s “new best friend.”

Roderick would echo the sentiments of The Kingdom, saying that Cole has changed and that he never had Strong’s back, choosing to align himself with an individual like MJF. Not to be outdone, MJF had subjectively harsher words for Strong, which did not sit well with the “Messiah of the Backbreaker.”

While he was only defending the honor of his friend, MJF’s comeback did not sit well with Adam Cole for a moment. Fortunately, these two cooled down for a bit, or so it seems, with MJF insisting Cole talk to Strong to patch things up.

This Wednesday, these two will talk about their main event bout in front of their loving public in Nashville. Will it be smoother this time around or will something similar put a damper on this friendship once again? Find out this Wednesday night and a lot more only on TBS!
