Preview: AEW Dynamite (6/28/23) – Fallout From Forbidden Door

An AEW Dynamite match graphic featuring Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Ruby Soho,

The second-ever AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door dream event was a massive success between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. The pay-per-view satiated the appetite of fans in more ways than one, providing never before seen matches, and moments that will forever live in professional wrestling lore. That said, AEW keeps on rolling with another edition of AEW Dynamite.

On this week’s edition of the premier Wednesday night program, we deal with the fallout from Forbidden Door. The quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament continue. Plus, Le Sex Gods is out for revenge. That and more on this week’s Dynamite! So, without further ado. It’s almost Wednesday night, and you know what that means! It’s time for a little preview of AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Full AEW Dynamite Match Card:

  • Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament – Quarterfinals: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Ruby Soho
  • Tornado Tag Team Match: Sting & Darby Allin vs. “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
  • We’ll Hear From “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

*More To Be Announced

The Return of “The Painmaker”

The team of Chris JerichoSammy Guevara, and Minoru Suzuki, collectively known as Le Suzuki Gods, had a rough time last Sunday night at Forbidden Door. Despite their best efforts they fell short and suffered a loss against the formidable trio of Darby AllinSting, and former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito.

Jericho wasn’t too pleased about the outcome, and at the official AEW Media Scrum post-Forbidden Door, “The Ocho” made it clear that things are not over between them and Sting and Allin. As a matter of fact, Chris wants to do it one more time. However, only this time, he wants maximum violence, no rules, and a lot of spilled blood, challenging both Sting and Darby, with Guevara as his partner, in a Tornado Tag Team Match this Wednesday night.

On top of that, Jericho said that he’s bringing back his darkest persona in the form of the “Painmaker” to settle this dispute once and for all. Then and there, AEW President Tony Khan made the match official, giving fans another exciting bout to look forward to. It’ll be Sting and Darby Allin versus “The Painmaker” Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara; how will the next chapter of this blood feud play out?

The Queen of H(e)arts

The Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament got off to a blazing-hot start this past week, with Skye BlueWillow Nightingale, and recently, Athena qualifying for the semifinals of the cup. On this week’s Dynamite, there is one spot left in the next round and it’s either going to be Ruby Soho or last year’s winner Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D advancing.

These two share a lot of history together, and it won’t be surprising if they decided to tear each other apart in their quest to win this prestigious tournament. Unfortunately, there can only be one, so may the best competitor win. It will be Ruby Soho versus defending tournament winner Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.!

It all goes down, and a lot more, this Wednesday night AEW Dynamite only on TBS!
