Do or Die

The “Best of 7 Series” for the AEW World Trios Title has been nothing short of spectacular over the past month. #AllElite fans have been treated to four excellent matches, thus far, that pit the reigning champions Death Triangle against the former first-ever titleholders The Elite. While this series started off as an intense competition between six of the best wrestlers in the world, it soon became personal and downright dirty.

After winning match three to avoid a nearly impossible 3-0 gap two weeks ago on AEW Dynamite, The Elite couldn’t pull out another win out of their proverbial hats to tie the series 2-2. This defeat is in large part due to Nick Jackson suffering an injury early in the match. Surprisingly, Nick came out when it mattered most to even the odds for his team.

Unfortunately, that put a huge target on his injury as Penta El Zero Miedo would hit his ankle with their trusty hammer, allowing Rey Fenix to put the younger Jackson brother in a submission hold, forcing him to tap out. That last win solidified the notion that the Death Triangle will use any tactic come hell or high water just to keep the gold around their waists.

Match five, possibly the last bout of this series commences this Wednesday night, and it’s no disqualification! With a 3-1 deficit lead over The Elite and the use of the hammer legal, can Death Triangle close out the series and remain the AEW World Trios Championship? Or will Matt, Nick, and Kenny live to fight at least one more match?

First One Up

This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite’s “Holiday Bash,” the AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter defends her title for the first time against one of the greatest holders of the championship Hikaru Shida. Hayter’s win over Toni Storm back at Full Gear marked a new era for the AEW Women’s Division. Jamie now has the opportunity to put the whole Women’s locker room on her back en route to bigger and better things.

However, one of the most historic competitors AEW has ever had stands in her way. Through the pandemic era of professional wrestling, Hikaru Shida stood firm and weathered the storm to make history as the longest-reigning AEW Women’s World Champion to date. Suffice it to say, Shida wants to reclaim the title that she held so dearly and that eluded her for almost two years.

As evidenced by the brutal bout between Hayter and Storm back at Full Gear, Jamie will do whatever it takes when it comes to the AEW Women’s World Title, so Shida also needs to be on top of her game this Wednesday night. Who will walk out of San Antonio, Texas with one of the richest prizes in AEW? Find out this Wednesday on the latest AEW Dynamite card.
