Who is AAA’s Hijo del Vikingo?

Hijo del Vikingo AAA

As we march through the back half of 2022 and the end of the year approaches, let’s get to know Hijo del Vikingo. Vikingo is the current AAA Mega Champion and has recently gotten approved for a United States work visa. Things have opened up a world of possibilities on both sides of the border. A return to IMPACT Wrestling or debut in All Elite Wrestling could be in the cards for Vikingo. A potential tour across the American independent scene would be more likely than anything. Anything is possible from a rematch with Josh Alexander in IMPACT Wrestling, to a potential first time ever match with Darby Allin. Nothing is off limits when it comes to singles matches with Vikingo making his long awaited return to the states later this year.

Getting to Know AAA’s Hijo del Vikingo

Vikingo has a big AAA title defense coming up on October 15th against Rey Fenix , at the second edition of Triplemania specials from AAA Lucha Libre. The match has been highly anticipated for almost two years since Fenix first issued the idea for a singles encounter with Hijo del Vikingo. Both men have had similar paths during their careers in AAA. What differentiates them is that Fenix has never won the AAA World Trios championships. A two time reign with the championships is one of the few accomplishments to separate both men within the promotion. Hijo del Vikingo has been earmarked as the future of AAA and with him being a homegrown luchador, things have certainly been working in his favor.

Here’s a few recommended matches from the year of 2022 so far.

  • AAA September house show: Vikingo vs. Bandido
  • AAA Mega Championship: Hijo del Vikingo vs. Johnny Caballero
  • Hijo del Vikingo and Aramis vs. Hermanos Lee (Dragon Lee and Dralistico)
  • IWRG Trios Match: Los Vipers (Toxin & Abismo Negro Jr) and Dick Angelo vs. Hijo del Vikingo , Noisy Boy and Aster Boy
  • Big Lucha: Vikingo in Big Lucha: Hijo del Vikingo , Bandido and, Psycho Clown vs. Cibernetico , Toxin, and Latigo vs. El Elemental, El Bendito, and Emperador Azteca

2022 and Beyond for Vikingo

Now with the world getting back to a sense of normalcy post the pandemic , Hijo del Vikingo has the perfect opportunity to get his name known to a wider fanbase even more outside of Mexico. The pro wrestling landscape in America will be easy for Hijo del Vikingo to conquer since he has a familiar footing already here due to his small stint during 2019.
