Early Betting Odds Revealed for WrestleMania 39 Roman Reigns, Rock Dream Match

The Rock and Roman Reigns WrestleMania 39 odds revealed

Hell in a Cell is in the books meaning it’s time for the sportsbooks to turn their attention to the next big wrestling event on the WWE calendar, WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns vs The Rock…Yes, you read that right. Even though WrestleMania 39 is about 10 months away, BetOnline isn’t wasting any time producing odds for a match fans have been waiting years to happen. On June 8th, the sports betting website officially revealed the first odds for a potential Roman Reigns vs. The Rock WrestleMania 39 showdown and they are exactly what one would expect.

Roman Reigns – 175 (4/7)
The Rock +135 (27/20)

Now, before we get into these way-too-early odds themselves, it is worth noting that the Reigns Rock WrestleMania match has still not been made official. That’s not to say it won’t. WrestleMania 39 has made all the sense in the world as the perfect setting for this family clash. The event will of course take place in LA’s brand-new SoFi Arena. Los Angeles is the Rock’s home now, as he has become one of the biggest and highest-earning movie stars on the planet. His is a career that many have begun to speculate also awaits Reigns as the current WWE Undisputed Champion has teased walking away from the ring perhaps sooner rather than later. Fans will recall Reigns made his acting debut alongside the Rock, portraying one of the family members of Rock’s character from the film Hobbs and Shaw.

A match between the Rock and Roman Reigns simply has to happen. As big a star WWE has made Reigns over his torrid heel run as the Tribal Chief and as big a star as the Rock still is within the company despite not having appeared in several years, this match gives WWE a license to print money. Lots and lots of money. And the story writes itself. The Rock is one of the top WWE superstars of all time, and for as good as Reigns has been and for as much history as he is making, he’s not on that level yet. The Tribal Chief has done just about everything to this point. He’s beaten just about every wrestler on the roster. His Bloodline faction has all the gold. It’s hard to imagine anything Reigns has left to achieve until you consider this match waiting in the wings. Beating the Rock would give Reigns that final piece of validation. It would cement his position as one of the best to ever wrestle in WWE. The lasting legacy is something Reigns is desperate for and it’s something that he can only attain with a win as important as this one would be. Because in order for Reigns to truly feel like the head of the table and head of the family, he has to beat his cousin, and he has to do it at WrestleMania.

So that brings us to these odds which slightly favor Reigns. There is really no surprise here. Much like he did when he held Reigns’ hand at the Royal Rumble, the Rock’s return would be to put his cousin over in what would be one of the biggest WWE matches of all time. The Rock even joked as much, dropping a tease into an episode of Young Rock when he told his excited younger cousin, who was desperate to have someone wrestle him, that a match between the two needed to be saved for a bigger stage when the world would be ready for such a thing. There is no bigger stage than WrestleMania and the world is more than ready. Reigns is more than ready, which is something that three years ago, may not have been the case. But the Tribal Chief is primed for this match and it’s clear both he and the Rock want to see it happen.

So far, everything seems like it may be falling into place for such a momentous bout between Reigns and the Rock at WrestleMania 39. The Rock, normally busy with movie commitment after movie commitment, appears to have zero obligations during the first quarter of 2023 according to Bryan Alvarez. This would perfectly align with an April WrestleMania showcase. Of course, anything can happen between now and then, but let’s hope it doesn’t. Because WrestleMania 39 feels like the last best chance for this match-of-a-century to take place.
