Roman Reigns Celebrating Win

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed today that Roman Reigns will reportedly be leaving WWE TV for 10 weeks, taking a hiatus from both television and live events. He is still on the cards for the next two PPVs, Money in the Bank and SummerSlam. It is unknown at this time what the reasoning is, though Dave postulates it could possibly be a movie or just time off after 2 years of hard work. (again, these are just postulations from Dave and not confirmed) This announcement is very interesting coming off of the promo Reigns did on Saturday the 7th of May, at a live event in New Jersey.

“I’ve been here a couple of times in the past 10 years,” Reigns said in a video from the event. “I’m starting to work into a new phase in my career, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back here again. If that’s the case, I just want to say thank you for all these years of support.”

Many fans speculated this to mean different things. Some thought maybe Reigns was winding down his career to pursue a Hollywood endeavor, while some believe he’s simply winding down from live events and house shows in the later stages of his WWE career. Others have entertained the idea of Roman Reigns leaving WWE altogether, but there’s nothing concrete to support such a belief yet. As stated before, he is on the cards for the next two shows, but that could change at any time.

When is Roman Reigns Leaving, and When Might He be Coming Back?

The hiatus starts after the June 24th edition of SmackDown and ends officially after Labor Day, though that’s no indication of him returning at that time. Bringing him back ASAP would be wise as he’s the biggest star they have that isn’t Brock Lesnar, but if the creative team has no ideas for him, he may not return right away. Time will tell.
