Thunder Rosa is the new AEW Women’s Champion. She defeated Dr.Britt Baker DMD in a steel cage match at the St.Patrick’s Day Slam edition of Dynamite to win the championship.

Thunder Rosa Captures AEW Women’s Championship

This was only the third steel cage match in AEW history. This is not the first time these two have squared off at this event. This feud was ignited last year when they battled in a Lights Out Match at the 2021 St.Patrick’s Day Slam edition of Dynamite. Baker eluded to that match when she removed a bag of thumbtacks from under the ring towards the end of the match.

Baker back body dropped Rosa onto the tacks and then tried to apply the lockjaw submission. Rosa reversed the move and powerbombed Baker onto the tacks. Baker rolled out of the ring and tossed a chair at Rosa to buy time. The two then traded blows before Rosa hit a Thunder Driver on the tacks to get the win.

The feud has been reignited as of late and culminated in a title match at Revolution. Rosa had to fight off Jamie Hayer and Rebel in that match which was a contributing factor to her losing that match.

Rosa gained a big win in tag team action this a couple of weeks on Dynamite. She and Mercedes Martinez defeated Baker and Hayter in a tag team match. This big win gave Rosa the momentum and mental edge heading into Revolution, but it wasn’t enough to dethrone Baker.

She earned a second chance after defeating “Legit” Leyla Hirsch to become the number one contender again. Rosa made the most of the opportunity and won the belt tonight.

Rosa adds another title to her collection. She is a former NWA World Women’s Champion and is the current Warrior Wrestling Women’s Champion. She just retained her Warrior Wrestling Title this past weekend in a triple threat match against Athena and Skye Blue.
