Ronda Rousey Becomes Betting Favorite to Win the Royal Rumble

Ronda Rousey Holding the Raw Women's Championship

According to a number of betting sites, Ronda Rousey is currently a favorite to win the 2022 WWE Women’s Royal Rumble. This move is due to a recent report a mere few days prior to the Royal Rumble, set to stream on Saturday January 29, 2022 on Peacock at 8:00 pm EST, that WWE is pushing to get her back. Sites such as Sky Bet currently have Rousey as a 2/1 favorite to win the Royal Rumble Match. BetOnline currently has Rousey as a 4/1 joint favorite alongside Bianca Belair to win. Logically, Rousey would be the favorite to win the Rumble due to the built-in storyline the superstar has with Becky Lynch that stems back to WrestleMania 35 in controversial fashion due to Rousey’s shoulders not being pinned to the mat at the conclusion of their match. Although fans who’ve followed Belair’s story may be unhappy if Rousey upstages her.

The story of Rousey returning to WWE goes back a few months ago when officials reached out to Rousey for a return at the top of 2022 to continue a program with Becky Lynch which would main event WrestleMania night 1. The idea at the time was for Rousey to return to the Rumble, win the Rumble, then challenge Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania. Since then however, plans continued to change in WWE as is usually the case from a creative perspective. Back in December, Sasha Banks was penciled to win the Royal Rumble match.  Those plans however had to be changed due to an injury Banks suffered on Sunday, January 2 at a live event in a single match against Charlotte Flair.

Ronda Rousey was last with WWE at WrestleMania 35 when suffered her first loss in a historic three-way match between herself, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch. Since that time, Ronda took time off from WWE to get married with her then long-time fiancé, Travis Browne, and wanted to spend more time with her family and become a mother. Since then, Rousey has done both and has been rumored to be training for a return.
