#AndNEW: “Golden Boy” Travis Williams Crowned First NEW Champion

Travis Williams is NEW Champion

Nation Extreme Wrestling (NEW), the new promotion based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada that has quickly risen to one of Canada’s premier indie promotions in its short existence, crowned their inaugural NEW Champion on Thursday night when “Golden Boy” Travis Williams defeated Elliot Tyler in the finals of the tournament to become the first NEW Champion in the promotion’s young history.

It’s been a rapid rise for the four-year pro from Vancouver, who started his career in 2017 with Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW), who was the last ECCW Canadian Champion. Travis Williams left the promotion in 2020 due to allegations during the #SpeakingOut movement. Aside from being one of the top young stars on the Western Canadian indies, Williams also found success in the Pacific Northwest indie scene in the U.S., where he’s competed for the likes of DEFY Wrestling, Without A Cause (WAC), 3-2-1 BATTLE!, and Prestige Wrestling. In Canada, aside from NEW, Williams also competes for 365 Pro Wrestling (formerly Pure Wrestling Association (PWA)), where he’s a former 365 Global Champion.
