Judy Bagwell, Mother of Former WCW Star Buff Bagwell, Passes Away at 78

Judy Bagwell WCW

Judy Bagwell, the mother of Marcus “Buff” Bagwell, has sadly passed away today after a long battle with dementia, as Buff himself tweeted 12:07 PM. The news was shared via social media. The message in question is as follows.

“It is with a heavy heart we must announce that this past Friday the matriarch of the Bagwell family has passed away. Judy Bagwell was blessed with three amazing children, a loving husband and so many great memories over the years. Thank you to everyone that has asked about her over the years, and have kept her in your prayers during her battle with dementia. Judy Bagwell was 78. RIP Judy 1943-2021,” he wrote.”

Fans of World Championship Wrestling may remember her from the infamous “Judy Bagwell on a Forklift Match” between her son and the late Chris Kanyon at WCW’s New Blood Rising pay-per-view in 2000, as well as winning the WCW World Tag Team Championship with Rick Steiner in late 1998. Steiner was originally teaming with Kaos, also known as Joey Munoz, by this point, but due to an injury sustained by the latter, Steiner elected to team with Judy to feud with Buff Bagwell and the rest of the New World Order. Though Steiner and Judy held the titles for a period, they were soon vacated due to a very real injury on Steiner’s part.

Last Word on Sports sends its condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Judy Bagwell around the world.
