Canadian Indie Veteran “Speedball” Mike Bailey Signs With IMPACT Wrestling

Speedball Bailey

On Sunday night in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (just outside Toronto) for Destiny Wrestling, one of Canada’s indie stars of the past decade, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, signed with IMPACT Wrestling after a post-match appearance from IMPACT’s Scott D’Amore. Bailey accepted and signed the contract on the back of former IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander.

Ever since Bailey’s five-year travel ban to the U.S. lifted this year, it’s been widely anticipated that one of the world’s top indie wrestlers would be heading to one of the national companies. After breaking out in 2015 with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) after years in the Canadian indies, Bailey was flagged in 2016 without a visa and received a 5-year ban in the U.S. In that time, he’s continued to work the Canadian indies, as well as venture into Europe as part of the UK scene with Revolution Pro (RevPro), Fight Club: PRO, Riptide Wrestling, and PROGRESS, in Germany with Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), and in Japan, primarily with DDT Pro. With his PWG connection, many assumed All Elite Wrestling (AEW) may be his U.S. destination, and at one point, it seemed WWE was courting him as well. But at the end of the day, it was IMPACT Wrestling that sealed the deal, and “Speedball” Mike Bailey is now IMPACT bound.
