Mickie James is the new IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion. She defeated Deonna Purrazzo at Bound for Glory to become the new champion.

The feud between James and Purrazzo was a heated one. James appeared at Slammiversary and confronted Purrazzo after her match with Thunder Rosa. She invited Purrazzo to NWA EmPowerr of which Purrazzo was less than respective of. James answered her with a superkick, igniting the rivalry. The rivalry took off in the NWA where Purrazzo attacked James after her match at NWA 73.
The rivalry culminated with Purrazzo attacking James at her farm. This lead to a no-contact clause between the two and “Pick Your Poison” matches with the two. James took on Savannah Evans in her first match in IMPACT since 2015 as part of the Pick Your Poison stipulation. This all lead to a heated matchup between the two, in which James captured the IMPACT Knockouts Title.
This is James’s fourth reign as Knockouts Champion. This was her first IMPACT pay-per-view match since her last departure from the company in 2015. She has held the title for a total of 241 days which is the eighth highest in IMPACT history.
