Sonny Kiss vs Joey Janela on Elevation
The showdown between former tag team partners Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela has been brewing for several weeks, ever since Janela turned on Kiss during a match on Dark: Elevation in August. During that episode, Kiss and Janela were supposed to take on Baron Black and DMC in a tag team match. Although the Bad Romance tag partners had been arguing a lot in the weeks leading up to that point, they appeared to be on the same page here. That all changed when Janela hit Kiss with a superkick during their ring entrance, before nailing him with a piledriver outside the ring.
Since then, Janela has been working as a singles wrestler, defeating opponents like Lee Moriarty and Alan “5” Angels on episodes of AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation. He also introduced Kayla Rossi as his newly hired muscle. Kiss, who has been keeping a low profile since the double-cross, made his return on Dark last week, looking for revenge against his former partner.
