Preview: AEW Rampage (9/17/21) – Lucha Bros First Defense

All Out Lucha Brothers

The penultimate event before All Elite Wrestling’s week of Grand Slam, the party will start early this Friday night on AEW Rampage. Momentum and excitement surround AEW week in and week out and they want to keep the fire burning each and every show. AEW Dynamite was quite a show this past Wednesday night wherein Adam Cole made his AEW in-ring debut and the night also had “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson confront the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Tensions are flaring up and the action is picking up ahead of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam and fans are salivating at the thought of what’s more to come. But, before all that, we will be treated to a night of action on this week’s edition of Rampage.

This Friday night, we will see two championship matches. The TNT Championship will be on the line as “The Redeemer” once again grants the fiery challenger a shot at the gold. With an added twist, of course. Not only is the TNT Title on the line but also a luxury car. The Dark Order’s number #99 will be making her Rampage debut against the HFO’s resident psychopath. And, the AEW World Tag Team Championship will be on the line in the Lucha Bros first defense, against former stablemates who were once thick as thieves. The night will be filled with fast action and furious competitors so don’t miss it. Let rampage run rampant this Friday night as we run it down.

Full AEW Rampage Match Card – Lucha Bros First Defense

  • AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: Lucha Brothers (c) (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. The Butcher & The Blade (w/The Bunny)
  • Anna Jay vs. The Bunny
  • TNT Championship Match: Miro (c) vs. Fuego Del Sol – “TNT Title vs. Fuego’s New Car”

#99’s Return

Anna Jay will make her singles in-ring return this Friday night on Rampage against the devious and twisted The Bunny. Team TayJay and the duo of The Bunny and the “Superbad Girl” Penelope Ford have been at each other’s throats for a couple of weeks now. This rivalry started when Bunny wanted to have a leg-up on the competition in that Casino Battle Royale back at All Out with Tay Conti. But, the Brazilian refused to form an allegiance. Conti soon found out the extent of The Bunny’s anger who enlisted the help of the Superbad Girl instead. Days before All Out, Penelope and The Bunny would gang up on poor Tay Conti ahead of the event wanting to incapacitate the competition before the show.

Seeing her best friend in trouble, Anna Jay would make her momentous return, after being on the shelf for the majority of the year, to clean house and even up the odds for her best friend. At the said event All Out, these two teams went after each other causing both duos the chance to get a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship. This rivalry will just get more intense as time goes by which is evidenced by the match we shall witness this Friday. This marks Anna Jay’s return to the singles competition and her AEW Rampage debut. Bad blood runs deep between these two so expect a physical matchup. Will Anna Jay notch her first singles win since her return or will The Bunny bury Anna in the rabbit hole?

Fighting With La Familia

The Lucha Brothers finally reached the mountain top back at All Out wherein they captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship against their fiercest rivals The Young Bucks. The rage in the cage matchup was definitely a “Match of The Year” candidate in most fans’ eyes as these two teams laid it all out in the ring spilling blood, sweat, and, tears in this barbaric but beautiful showcase of tag team wrestling. In the end, Penta El Zero Miedo and his brother Rey Fenix would show out and finally win the gold marking their crowning achievement as one of the best, if not, the best tag team in the industry right now.

The newly-crowned champions will have their first title defense this Friday night on Rampage against two individuals who they once called “Family” The Butcher and The Blade. These two tag teams know each other quite well from their time being one of the fiercest factions in AEW. But, now the battle lines are clear and it’s all about World Tag Team Championship gold for both units. Expect nothing less than a downright dirty brawl that pulls no punches from either side. Will The Lucha Brothers be successful in their first title defense or will The Butcher and The Blade end the reign early before it has even started?
