Daffney, Former WCW & TNA Knockout, Passes Away at 46

Daffney

In utterly heartbreaking news broken this evening, Shannon Claire Spruill, better known as WCW and TNA star Daffney, has passed away at age 46. The news was broken today, September 2nd, by close friend of Daffney and SHIMMER alumni, Lexie Fyfe. In a post accessible viewable on her Instagram, Fyfe announced:

“We are so sad to have to announce the passing of Shannon Spruill aka Daffney Unger @screamqueendaff. We are posting this at the request of her family. Please respect their privacy during this trying time.
I will miss you my logical sister from another mister.”

Yesterday, the former WCW Cruiserweight Champion posted a deeply upsetting video to social media, where she was visibly upset and threatening harm against herself. Daffney has always been a beloved figure in the industry of professional wrestling and word quickly spread – with fan and wrestler alike joining the effort to send help her way. Daffney will be remembered as an icon in professional wrestling; a pioneering “Scream Queen” who became renowned for her alternative, goth like appearance and her natural aptitude for professional wrestling.
