Maki Itoh Wins Tokyo Princess Cup

Maki Itoh Owen Hart

During the Tokyo Princess Cup Finals at Korakuen Hall on August 15th, Maki Itoh defied the odds and managed to win the prestigious tournament for the first time by defeating Shoko Nakajima in an amazing match.

This wasn’t the easiest road for Maki. Before defeating two time TPC winner Mizuki in the semi finals, she suffered a nasty injury to her cheek in her quarter final match against Suzume

Maki Itoh has been on fire all of 2021, not only has her popularity increased with western audiences thanks to her appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) but the home crowd has gotten behind her more and more as she continues to improve in the ring. Back in February of this year, Maki competed in the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator tournament, where she quickly endeared herself to the American attending audience.

Her prize for winning the TPC 2021 is a shot at her tag team partner, Miyu Yamashita’s Princess of Princess Championship at Ota Ward during WrestlePrincess 2 on October 9th.

It looks more likely than ever that Maki will get back her loss she suffered on January 4th to Miyu and capture the top prize in Tokyo Joshi Pro.
