#AndNEW: G-Raver & Jimmy Lloyd Win GCW Tag Team Titles in Mexico

New GCW Tag Champs

Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) is currently in Mexico doing shows with hardcore Mexican indie promotion ZONA 23. They’re filming the event for a special on FITE.tv on July 30, and it appears it’s been more than just continuing their international expansion into Mexico – it’s also about bringing some gold back to the United States. On Sunday night, GCW announced that the unlikely duo of G-Raver and Jimmy Lloyd defeated Mexican tag team Los Masizos (Ciclope & Miedo Extremo), the reigning GCW Tag Team Champions, ending their three-year, 1,162-day reign as champs.

Jimmy Lloyd and G-Raver have had a rocky relationship, going all the way back to 2017, particularly in the past few months. They first crossed paths in 2017 at Hardcore Hustle Organization (H2O) and the following year, the two rising stars of GCW were paired together in a series of battles against Los Masizos in both the U.S. and Mexico. Their union was brief, and soon the duo was crossing paths around the deathmatch and indie circuit, in GCW, On Point, H2O, and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW).

But since December of 2020, following G-Raver’s near-miraculous return to pro wrestling after a serious arm injury, the two have been on a blood feud of the most personal vengeance. But now the pair are the unlikely duo that has finally ended the reign of Los Masizos, bringing the GCW Tag Team titles back to the U.S. The GCW Tag Team titles originally began as the Jersey Championship Tag Team titles in 1999, before being rebranded when JCW became GCW in 2015. Current AEW tag teams Santana & Ortiz and Private Party are both former GCW Tag Team Champions, which have also been held by the likes of The Rejects (John Wayne Murdoch & Reed Bentley), Joey Janela & Sean Waltman, and 2x champs, Da Hit Squad.
