ChocoPro Tag League Announced on Episode #126

ChocoPro Tag League

Earlier this evening, episode #126 of ChocoPro, the season seven finale, took place. Viewers witnessed much of the same high-energy action has become a staple of the YouTube wrestling show. Following the festivities, Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling founder Emi Sakura made several announcements regarding the upcoming season. Chief among these was an announcement that was unprecedented for both the show and Gatoh Move itself. Sakura confirmed, not only to the surprise of fans but the wrestlers within Ichigaya Chocolate Square, the ChocoPro Tag League.

There were a few key details shared regarding the ChocoPro Tag League. While a starting date hasn’t been confirmed, the goal is to pit eight teams against one another. Furthermore, Gatoh Move intends to make the ChocoPro Tag League “clean” and “compact,” running anywhere from one to two and a half months. The possibility of said teams being broken up into separate blocks was floated as well. Stay tuned into Gatoh Move’s social media channels and live streams for more information.

Tag leagues are not uncommon in wrestling, especially in Japan. New Japan Pro-Wrestling, for example, has held its World Tag League tournament in various forms since 1980. For a more recent example, look no further than the Wrestle-1 Tag League, which began in 2014. There is also the Global Tag League that has been a staple of Pro Wrestling NOAH since 2008. This doesn’t even begin to touch on the various tag team wrestling tournaments in All Japan Pro Wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, and elsewhere. Given Gatoh Move’s focus on tag team wrestling, the ChocoPro Tag League should be just as exciting.

No specific teams have been announced, as of this writing, though there are a few possibilities to consider. Among the likeliest predictions are Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki, better known collectively as Best Bros. If they are confirmed, they will enter the ChocoPro Tag League as Asia Dream Tag Team Champions. Since the inception of ChocoPro, other teams have formed and established themselves. Pencil Army, for example, consists of Emi Sakura, Minoru Fujita, and their leader, Lulu Pencil; any two of them would be eligible. TropiCalamari is comprised of Yuna Mizumori and Chris Brookes. More concrete details, in regard to teams and otherwise, will be made available in time.
