Jimmy Uso Returns To Friday Night Smackdown

Jimmy Uso

When it comes to The Usos, Jey Uso could be described as one of the breakout stars of WWE’s pandemic era. This was partly due to an unfortunate injury at WrestleMania 36 to Jimmy Uso. Jimmy Uso would be out of action for a whole year, while drastic changes would happen in the career of Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns turned heel and went on to become the Tribal Chief, while Jey Uso initially fought Reigns to try and knock some sense into his cousin. Jey eventually joined Reigns as a loyal subject after being beaten into submission.  Where would this leave Jimmy?

During the opening segment of Throwback Smackdown, Roman Reigns would cut a promo saying goodbye to Daniel Bryan, offering a moment of silence for his past opponent, telling the fans that a replacement has been made because of his absence. That replacement would be Jimmy Uso. Jimmy Uso celebrated this family reunion with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. During this reunion. Cesaro came out and said that Jimmy “would never be a replacement for Daniel Bryan” Seth Rollins attacked his adversary Cesaro, leading the Usos to watch the impromptu number #1 contenders match.

The Usos would constantly distract Cesaro and later Seth Rollins in the singles match to crown a #1 Contender for Reigns’ WWE Universal Championship. They mainly focused on Cesaro until the very end of the match when Seth Rollins wanted to do the match without any help when throwing Cesaro back into the ring. Seth Rollins would show hostility, shoving Jey Uso to the ground. With the referee distracted, Jimmy Uso superkicked Seth Rollins, leading Cesaro to take advantage and defeat Seth Rollins to gain a title shot at WrestleMania Backlash.

During a backstage segment, Seth Rollins was angered at the antics of Jimmy Uso and talked to Reigns. This later led to another segment involving the three, with Reigns extremely disappointed in what happened in that match. Jimmy Uso would note that he’s not subservient to Roman Reigns, showcasing the hostility that Jey and Reigns previously had, going all the way back to Hell In A Cell 2020. With Reigns eventually choking out Jey Uso at the end. Which was brought up later in the show when Reigns would eventually call Jimmy Uso out to the ring.

At the end of the show, Jimmy Uso interrupted a promo from Roman Reigns, talking about how Jimmy has so much anger going back to Hell In A Cell for Roman Reigns. Reigns gave Jimmy an ultimatum, which was to fall line in or leave.  Jimmy opted to leave and walked to the back, his brother Jey tried to talk some sense into him on the outside of the ring.  This left Roman Reigns prone for an ambush from Cesaro.  Cesaro let loose on both Reigns and Jey, but when he attacked Jey he brought out Jimmy who tried to help his cousins fend off Cesaro.  That right there is the important thread, Jimmy doesn’t care about Reigns, but he does care about his brother and that’s going to be an important story to keep an eye on as all is not well in the Tribal Chief’s ranks.
