Preview: AEW Dynamite – World Tag Team Titles On The Line (2/17/21)

AEW Dynamite

On this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, a World Tag Team Championship match is on the card. We will also see the return of a dangerous tag team chomping at the bit to reassert their dominance. Fans will see the continuation of a tournament to determine who gets to rightfully challenge the queen atop the AEW women’s division. Last week’s show was a great one and it ended with such destruction that nobody could possibly explain the aftermath. Wait no longer as Wednesday is almost upon the fans once again and it’s going to be a spectacular one. Let’s get ready to rock so let’s run it down:

Full Match Card for AEW Dynamite:

Sting calls out Team Taz ahead of their Street Fight at AEW Revolution

– FTR (w/Tully Blanchard) vs. Matt & Mike Sydal

– Hangman Page, Matt Hardy  vs. TH2 & Chaos Project (Note: this has been split into two matches.  Page & Hardy will now face TH2 with Orange Cassidy facing Luther)

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament (First Round): NWA Women’s World Champion Serena Deeb vs.  Riho

Eddie Kingston, The Butcher & The Blade (w/ The Bunny) vs. Jon Moxley, Rey Fenix & Lance Archer

– AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Young Bucks vs. Santana & Ortiz

Sting Looks for Retribution

Sting is not playing around anymore as far as Team Taz is concerned. The actions of Team Taz last week were detestable, to say the least. This time, they may have gone too far. The Icon was on his way to conduct an interview with Tony Schiavone. However, the camera would immediately cut to Team Taz aboard a truck in the parking lot. The group of monsters led by Taz put Darby Allin in a body bag and had him chained to the bumper of the car. In a horrific scene, fans saw Team Taz drive away with Allin still inside a bodybag being dragged away by the speeding vehicle. Sting would immediately run to the back with a concerned look on his face.

On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Sting will, once again, call out Team Taz and he is not a happy camper. Things just got personal, if they weren’t already. It’s safe to say Sting and Darby Allin are looking forward to their Street Fight with the group at AEW Revolution. There will be hell to pay as Sting and Allin have only one thing on their mind: revenge.

Fear the Return on AEW Dynamite

After being suspended by AEW management due to uncalled-for actions against the members of The Jurassic Express, FTR is back. The team will go up against Matt Sydal and a debuting Mike Sydal as they try to regain their momentum back after weeks off. Last week, Jungle Boy spoke about the return of FTR, expectedly not happy having them back. Jungle Boy is out for retribution, as is Marko Stunt and the behemoth Luchasaurus. Stunt was held in captivity by the group, not to mention what they did to the horns of Luchasaurus weeks earlier. Jurassic Express will not take this laying down; fans can be sure of that.

FTR faces a high-flying team of Matt & Mike Sydal. Will the old school technicians keep the high-flyers grounded or will the Sydal siblings be too much to handle with their aerial assault?

A Deal with the Devil?

Note: As mentioned previously this match has been changed and it will not be Hangman Page & Mat Hardy vs TH2)

Hangman Page and Matt Hardy were successful in defeating Chaos Project back at Beach Break and Hardy could not be happier. “Big Money” Matt has been recruiting talent for a while now as he has signed Private Party to his collection of talent. Hardy set his sights on a new star acquisition in the form of Adam Page. The Hangman is an outstanding performer, as everybody knows; who wouldn’t covet the hard-drinking cowboy’s talents? Their victory at Beach Break seemed like it was the best possible outcome for Matt and his talent pool. A win right off the bat entices Hangman to join this cast of characters as he was promised fame and fortune by the smooth-talking former “Broken One.”

Last week, Hangman and Hardy went to the bar to discuss business. There was even an awkward moment with The Dark Order as they were previously courting Adam Page into joining the collective, an offer Page would unfortunately decline. Hangman Page drank the night away. Matt Hardy, with the sleight of hand, threw away the drink to keep his wits about him. Hardy handed a contract for Hangman to sign; Hardy would look straight into the camera to boast his genius in negotiating. In the background, though, Page did the ol’ switcheroo and signed the contract that came from his own jacket.

If not an exclusive contract with Hardy’s brand, what did Hangman Page sign and give? Maybe fans will get their answer sooner rather than later. As for this upcoming show, it’s Hangman, Hardy, and Private Party vs. TH2 & Chaos Project in an 8-man tag team match. This is not going to be pretty, so fans should prepare themselves for a wild scuffle.

The American Homecoming of Riho

The first round of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament Japanese bracket has concluded and it was beyond spectacular. It is now time for the ladies in the United States to continue to show what they’re made of. After almost a year off of AEW programming due to the global crisis, the Japanese sensation is back. Fans are excited to see Riho back as she faces the NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb. This contest is a first-round matchup to determine who advances to the next round of the tournament in the US bracket. These two are among the best in the world and if fans should expect anything, it’s a sensational match from these women. Will Riho mark the occasion with a win in her return or will Deeb spoil the party and come out on top? Fasten your seatbelts and do not dare change the channel. Fans are in for something special.

The Family Fights on AEW Dynamite

Eddie Kingston’s family will be in action against Jon Moxley, Rey Fenix, and the Murderhawk Monster, Lance Archer. Opposite Kingston and his band of goons will be a royally ticked-off Moxley who’s gearing up for his showdown with KENTA. Alongside him are two men who have had run-ins with Eddie and his group in the past. Archer still has a bone to pick with Eddie Kingston as well as The Butcher and The Blade. Additionally, there is no doubt Fenix has not forgotten the past actions of this so-called family against Death Triangle. Folks, this is going to be bowling shoe ugly. Like a car-wreck at the side of the road, you just have to see the carnage that will ensue.

The AEW World Tag Team Titles Are Up for Grabs

Matt Jackson was in a fighting mood last week but saw no action with his brother, Nick Jackson. The Young Bucks made it clear that, this week, they want a fight. They hand-picked Santana & Ortiz to challenge them for the World Tag Team Titles in a loaded episode of AEW Dynamite. The Bucks were heated as they did not win the tag team battle royal back at Beach Break. They partially blamed The Good Brothers for this. The IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions would explain that they were just trying to assist the AEW’s number one tag team in their match. Nonetheless, Matt and Nick were not buying the story one bit.

The Young Bucks stated if they had won the tag team battle royal, their preferred opponents would’ve been The Good Brothers themselves. Matt stated it would have been a dream match of sorts that the fans would’ve been more than happy to see at AEW Revolution. As fate would have it, the match was not meant to be. Now, it’s time for Santana and Ortiz to step up as they get their coveted shot at the gold. Will the Proud & Powerful duo win the titles or will The Young Bucks retain and once again remind everybody why they’re the best tag team AEW has to offer?
