#AndNEW: Shunma Katsumata Wins DDT Extreme Title

Shunma Katsumata Extreme Champion

Ever since Ultimate Party 2020, the Extreme title has not been seen on DDT live events. That is due to the stipulation chosen by the champion Sanshiro Takagi. He gave two rules for it, every defense is an open challenge, and all matches would be under Rojo Wrestling rules. These defenses would be aired on Youtube, and over the course of these matches ranging from Saunas to Airsoft courses, he would earn a total of ten defenses. It would all come to a stop on Sunday however as Shunma Katsumata became Extreme Champion.

In a triple threat ironman match between Shunma Katsumata, Sanshiro Takagi and Batten x Burabura the three would brawl around the Hot Spring. In a match with callbacks to Sanshiro Takagi’s first defense against Shunma Katsumata. However, there would be a differing result. With only a few minutes left Shunma was trailing behind Takagi and dragged him into a Sauna. A place where he drew strength due to him being in the Sauna club, and where Takagi was weakened. He was able to tie up the score and with only 30 seconds left he did a splash off of a ladder in the sauna onto Takagi for the final pinfall of the match leaving a score of 25-24-6.

It was a busy day for the member of the Sauna Club as earlier he teamed up with Yuki Ueno to take on Chris Brookes and Miyu Yamashita at Chris Brookes Produce Show 2. So while he might not have been one hundred percent going into that match it was a place and style he was comfortable with and excelled. And Shunma Katsumata walked out Extreme champion, ending the record-breaking defense streak of Takagi. And becoming the 50th championship in the process. After the match, he named his first challenger for the title in MAO.
