#AndNEW: A-Kid Becomes First NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion

A-Kid has become the inaugural holder of the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship. The Spanish sensation defeated Trent Seven in the finals of an eight-man single-elimination tournament on tonight’s show to become the first champion.

En-route to the tournament finals, A-Kid defeated both Flash Morgan Webster and Noam Dar, whereas Trent Seven saw off the challenges of both Kenny Williams and Dave Mastiff. As per the tournament rules of British rounds, the two had six rounds to contest their match in, but in the end, they were forced into sudden-death overtime after going to a 1-1 draw in the match. Ultimately, the plucky Spaniard forced ‘The Don’ into submission to hoist the trophy, which was presented to him by the assistant to the general manager, Sid Scala.

The win marks A-Kid’s first championship victory in NXT UK, having officially signed with the brand last October. Of course, he and Team WhiteWolf pal Carlos Romo had previously appeared during a set of NXT UK tapings in Glasgow, losing to hometown boys, Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang). Since properly joining the brand, however, A-Kid has become one of the fastest rising stars the brand has to offer.

Going forward, the NXT UK Heritage Cup will make for a phenomenal addition to the weekly shows. It gives those who aren’t quite ready for WALTER‘s NXT UK Championship the chance to taste championship glory – the likes of Joseph Conners, Amir Jordan, and, assuming the rumours are true regarding his signing, Ben Carter, amongst others, will all benefit from the trophy being in existence.
