UWN Primetime Live Episode 5

UWN Primetime Live, in its short tenure, has quickly become must-see wrestling each and every week. Its unique blend of indie talent and comfortably established stars, including the involvement of its partnership with the NWA, makes this show a crucial window into the future of pro wrestling. From an epic clash between two former WWE talents to an NJPW Strong rematch, here is everything to look forward to on tonight’s edition of United Wrestling Network’s Primetime Live.

Fred Rosser versus Chris Masters

“You can’t have Primetime Live without THE Prime Time Player!” Rosser said in his recent Twitter message promoting tonight’s show. If the name Fred Rosser does not sound immediately familiar, fans will quickly remember him as former WWE Tag Team Champion and Nexus member Darren Young.

Rosser enjoyed middling success in WWE, shifting between tag team partnerships, along with a short stint with Bob Backlund with the goal of “Making Darren Young Great Again.” However, he was never able to maintain momentum, due mostly to a plaguing of mistimed injuries, and was released from WWE In October 2017. Other than a few tag team appearance in CHIKARA and most recently NJPW Strong, this will be Rosser’s first major wrestling match in 3 years.

However, while “Mr. No Days Off” looks to show that he still has what it takes, he will certainly have a challenge in another former WWE name, Chris Masters. The pioneer of the Master Lock was dominated during the mid naughties in WWE, but similar to Rosser in the Nexus, his momentum was greatly stunted by an embarrassing loss to John Cena. After a string of Wellness Policy violations, Masters was released from WWE in November of 2007 and then again in August 2011. He has been making waves through independent promotions since, as well as a brief stint in IMPACT. Most recently, he was involved in a tag team match with fellow WWE alum (and former rival) Carlito at Black Label Pro‘s Threat Level Noon.

Will Rosser be able to pick up a much-needed “million-dollar” win or will he succumb to the infamous “Master Lock?” Tune in tonight to find out.

Danny Limelight versus Clark Connors

These two athletes recently met in the finals of the NJPW Lion’s Break Tournament. Danny Limelight was persistent and brought some great offense to Connors, but came up short after submitting to a Full Crab submission. The young lion and self-proclaimed leader of the LA Dojo has incredible momentum going into this match as the first-ever Lion’s Break Crown winner.

Danny Limelight, however, has a lot to prove tonight. He was featured in episode 2 of Primetime Live but unfortunately came up short to Kevin Martinsen. Will Limelight be able to achieve the upset in this rematch or will Connors continue his winning ways?

Elayna Black versus Heather Monroe

Heather Monroe also has a lot to prove to UWN fans after losing in the debut edition to Kamille. She also notably appeared recently on AEW Dynamite in a match with AEW Women’s world champion Hikaru Shida, as well as a couple of years ago in IMPACT against Su Yung. She is an AWS and SHIMMER alum as well. However, the “Killer Bae” has yet to pick up an important win in her career, losing all of her appearances in AEW and the like.

She will have her work cut out for her in her match with the debuting Elayna Black tonight. UWN’s Twitter account put out a haunting video package hyping her debut. A shattering hour class forebode that time may be up for Monroe. The following message played: “Heather Monroe, the cards are not in your favor.”

This will not be her first debut this week, however, as Black will also make her debut on AEW Dark tonight against Red Velvet. With only 2 years of in-ring experience under her belt, will the “Sorceress of Sin” be able to prove herself as the fastest rising star in women’s wrestling today, or will Monroe be able to spoil her shining night?

Episode 5 of Primetime Live will premier tonight at 9 PM on Fite TV.
